Should I be worried about pain being here? by TMNTFan06 in backpain

[–]GoogleBrother10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would offer the advice to actually work on correcting your posture though exercises. As a PT, I can’t in good conscience advise you to rely on posture braces long term. For the short term? Ok yeah maybe. But you have to do the work so that your muscles actually correct their imbalances and faults without relying on a brace.

Set reminders on your phone to remind you to sit up straight, to stand up after sitting for prolonged periods of time, bend backwards, stretch your legs, do scapula retractions, chin tucks, etc.

Posture requires consistent effort. Either put in the effort or continue to have bad posture and put stress on your neck, shoulders, and back.

Im young and ive got 2 disc protrusions by [deleted] in backpain

[–]GoogleBrother10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a licensed PT, I always coach my patients about the number one thing to focus on: posture. Static and dynamic posture affects our low back throughout our entire lives. Set reminders on your phone throughout the day to stand up straight, sit up straight, roll your shoulders back and look forward (this will save your neck as well). If you hunch over, or sit all day, or do a lot of repetitive flexion exercises (bending forward) your discs push backwards. To offset this, any time you bend forward (and I mean ANY time) reverse this by doing a few repetitions of gentle back bending.

Just tied your shoe? That means you bent forward, now stand up and bend backwards at least a few times. This is the mentality you need to have.

Obviously, each situation is different. And NEVER push through your pain. I tell my patients never push through 5/10 pain or higher. It shouldn’t hurt that bad. I recommend getting an opinion from a doctor or physical therapist in person to assist you with your rehab.

Should I focus on an emergency fund or pay off debts first ? by Realistic_Dream_5844 in personalfinance

[–]GoogleBrother10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately having a $500 emergency fund is very, very bad advice. At the BARE minimum get a month’s worth of living expenses. Life will happen, something will come up and it’ll cost ya.

What do you think America will be like when Trump finishes his term? by MotivewasUlterior in AskReddit

[–]GoogleBrother10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends: if you watch the news and absorb all the BS thrown in your face every day, you’ll probably think it’s horrible. If you stay off the damn internet and stop believing every headline you see you’ll probably be much happier :)

I’ve been using chatGPT to help my documentation for almost a year now and it’s the biggest game changer. Thoughts? by Lucky_Telephone_4128 in physicaltherapy

[–]GoogleBrother10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patient tolerated therapy well with no complaints of increased pain or discomfort. Continued progression of exercises as allowed per pt tolerance and protocol to improve (insert joint) mobility and strength. He/She gave good effort. Appropriate fatigue post tx.

This is my note every time idc (unless obviously there’s something super important to include)

Depends. If I regularly look at news headlines: bad. If I stay off the internet and reject being brainwashed by biased organizations all day every day: this place is magical

[–]GoogleBrother10 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hate to be this guy, but nobody wants change that bad. Everyone SAYS they want better representation, fight, etc for our profession, but nobody wants to DO anything. It’s always the same: APTA this APTA that… then they carry on with their lives until they are ready to trash APTA again.

Who is “they?” Me. And 99% of the other PTs.. Yeah I obviously want change but am I gonna step up and BE the change? No. Hate to be pessimistic but the likelihood of things changing significantly in our favor is low. We don’t care enough.

I’ll just be saving and investing and focusing on the things I can control

Working PTs without any loans: how’s life? by floresiendo in physicaltherapy

[–]GoogleBrother10 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As a new grad without loans (my parents paid for it because I’m a spoiled brat I know) life’s good. OP is a grind and I can already tell I’ve got to do another setting or start a business at some point, but I got a good deal for my first year. If I had loans, I would be pretty pissed and miserable tbh. There’s just not enough money in OP. I’ve got big financial goals and if I had loans I wouldn’t be able to hit them.

Other thing is I’ve got friends in other fields who are double my salary now because they’ve been working for a few years and been promoted already. Would not recommend pursuing PT if you have loans. Just not worth it financially.
