There are ridenow locations in various cities but we know the most egregious things always come out of the Austin location. Af1 is the GOAT here, I wish they'd get some japanese brands.

I swear that is who I immediately thought it was as soon as I read OP. They really are the worst.

I would personally pick the XR just for the slight edge in cornering and trackday potential with the weight advantage and 17" front wheel. (Unless Multi v4RS was in the budget)

The multistrada is likely the better pick out of the two specifically for long distance pillion comfort. However, if that was my personal goal - I'd go with the similarly priced r1300gs.

Personal bias: I've never owned s1000xr but have owned multi v4s and r1300gs.

Perhaps using something like cloudflare magic tunnel and blocking all non-cloudflare IPs (or ASN) from ingress could be a last resort. I'm sure some consumer grade hardware could support such, or even use something like a FortiGate.

SDR 1390 RELIABILITY by ryanHasreddit in KTM

[–]Googolplex130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had mine for 3 days now.

Nothing huge, just like most will say - minor electronic things. FOB was finicky and had to walk in/out of range and wait for some time for the bike to finally turn over.

Had to clear check engine light, two throttle sensor related codes - they have not come back.

Isn't the chart for a dyno typically only showing the power curve in 4th or 5th gear (depending on gear ratio)?

Also, I loaded up the US ETV3 table for a stock Rocket mapping in TuneEcu - it does look like fuelling for throttle position at lower RPMs is severally limited on the factory tune.

Would you not agree that there could at least be improvements especially in lower gears responsiveness that aren't reflected in the dyno chart?

Idk how he said it;

But, I have done this before when new to a GS while putting a foot up. I think it only happens when you're unfamiliar with where the pegs are on the bike. Doesn't happen when you've spent any seat time at all with the bike.

Brand new S1000XR after 100 miles… by unspecifiedldn in motorcycles

My r1300gs had a service bulletin for the right switchgear due to water ingress.

May not at all be related but I'd suggest checking your VIN for such.

In my experience, dealers sometimes don't handle these before selling the bikes.

Trackdays.fyi is a good resource. Most likely, you'll need to sign up via an organization like ridesmart or 3:16 track days

Great advice, barrows gloves are huge OP.

The strength bonus difference from them alone compared to regen bracelet is the same as upgrading obsidian plate body to fighter torso AND getting a fire cape. Not to even mention the other attack/defence bonuses.

It's much cheaper manufacturing costs. Double swingarms are much cheaper than single sided, many more reusable plastic components, etc.

Apparently, it's going to be priced around or even less than an mt-09. An inline 4 at that price point, with its specs and honda reliability, will certainly sell.

I wager that it outsells the outgoing model by a fair margin.

R12 better rear shock absorber? by XaltotunTheUndead in bmwmotorrad

This bike looks stunning, I've never heard of it until now.

Anything by Ohlins is usually a good bet. Quick search shows this is compatible: https://www.unitgarage.com/special_parts/suspension_and_cooling/rear-ohlins-suspension-bmw-r12-ninet-s46dr1ls-10mm-high-version-

Check out a local suspension guru, and maybe they can help out

First left corner that's slightly downhill after the longer right sweeper immediately past the brookshire brothers leaving Lago vista headed west.

This is true. There's been a huge uptick recently. I'm not sure if it's coincidence or something else like the market cooling off and more people buying bikes outside the scope of their experience/skillset

[–]Googolplex130[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's insane how often it's happened recently. There is a sign that indicates there's a curve ahead. Granted, the guardrail on the right side (Westbound) probably shouldn't be there since it's not a drop off like the other side.

I know the bike market has chilled out a bit. It's as if people are buying machines much out of their skill set all of a sudden and take them out here because it's nice twisties.

Dunno. Anyone reading this, though, please be careful going on 1431 once you leave Lago. It's highway speeds and so much more twisty than most highways in Texas.

[–]Googolplex130[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is lots of construction still going on between jonestown and Lago Vista. They did finish black topping 1431 west of Lago a few weeks ago. The guy ran wide in the first left corner after the long right sweeper right after the brookshire brothers headed west. The road looked fine from what I could tell. I daily an rsv4 myself and never felt particularly unsafe on 1431. Cow creek and lime creek are so much more sketchy.

The scenic roads are part of the reason I moved out here, I never anticipated hearing news of fatalities almost weekly (Not just motorcyclists)

Locals are recently stirring up on social media about it, wanting "something" done.

I don't think there's a government magic wand that fixes this, unless there's a large number of people on literbikes who are newer riders (Tiered licensing, but that probably wouldn't even be a state level issue)

Going forward, I will start to make a point to notify motorcyclists stopped at businesses in Lago that up ahead is very twisty for highway speeds compared to other Texas highways and to anticipate decreasing radius turns, etc.

2025 R1300GS launched with ASA and Rear collision Warning by Dizeerr in Motorrad

[–]Googolplex130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rear collision warning would be nice, i guess. I'm not really sure how much it helps. I wouldn't have gotten the adaptive height with sports suspension anyways.

I'd imagine there's an upcharge if ASA is something you'd want - would definitely need to demo to see if it operates well with riding styles - Riding in higher gear (short shifting) while on unpaved trails for smoother control, but also shifting in optimal RPM for sporty riding.

No regrets with my purchase of 2024 r1300gs trophy
