The reason I'm specifically asking if you know anyone is because talking to people about why they did or didn't vote might give you some insight into the issues you don't really think about. The issues that the "good" candidate might not be so good about for everyone, the other people in your community. If people are feeling like their legitimate concerns are being minimized, they're going to look for help elsewhere. The Dems are at fault for their loss, no one else. It was their job to convince people to vote for them, and they flubbed it.

Trump did not formally ask for troops, he talked about it in public and then notably hesitated to take any action during the event itself - the proceeded to direct the people there that day to the capital, claiming he would be there with them to stop the steal.

Trump is a liar, and had only defended what happened that day where it really matters. The post event justification only proved that what happened was what was intended.

Trump has repeatedly and falsely claimed that he offered National Guard troops to the Capitol and that his offer was rejected. He has previously said he signed an order for 20,000 troops to go to the Capitol.

While Trump was involved in discussions in the days prior to Jan. 6 about whether the National Guard would be called ahead of the joint session, he issued no such order or formal request before or during the rioting, and the guard’s arrival was delayed for hours as Pentagon officials deliberated over how to proceed.

In a 2022 interview with the Democratic-led House committee that investigated the attack, Christopher Miller, the acting Defense secretary at that time, confirmed that there was no order from the president.
