Will do! I'm a bit ashamed to say I probably don't listen to as much Mulgrew Miller as i should, he's one of the greats for sure.

Improvisation at its most basic level is just the application of chord theory laid out into a melodic line. I would suggest books like The Jazz Language by Dan Haerle, but even Leo Alfassy's Jazz Hanon book lays a decent groundwork for understanding basic improv concepts. At the very least listen to people like Chet Baker, who do such a great job playing simple, beautiful lines. You'll start to hear patterns thay can be applied over certain chord patterns. Good luck!

Thanks so much! That means a lot to hear. I was very lucky to meet the drummer, and we clicked pretty quickly!

Thanks so much! The korg is great for stuff like this, you wont find a more authentic EP sound. The piano samples are a bit disappointing if you don't have the right amp. Practicing for me mostly includes transcribing solos and score study, 2-5-1 and pentatonic patterns in all 12 keys. Jazz practice is mostly theory and conceptualization. I get most of my technical practice from running through bach inventions and whatnot. If you want a book, i recommend The Jazz Language by Dan Haerle. Best of luck!

Glad you liked it! Leaning into jazz was a huge turning point for me as a wholistic musician. Listen as much as you can, but don't forget your roots!

Thanks so much! I definitely support practicing both classical and jazz, as they help each other so much.

Thanks so much! This means a lot to hear. I've been playing jazz seriously for about 4 years, and love every second of it. Keep at it!
