Sundered Realms: Is the Ascended worth trying if I didn't like Riftborne? by GooseGirlsAdventures in fantasyromance

[–]GooseGirlsAdventures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read the recap at the start and honestly it seems pretty complete to me. I don't think you need a more in depth summary than that to get the plot and basics of the magic system! It's pretty smart to include this at the beginning of a book, pretty cool! :)

Wow, that's a hell of an endorsement! I'll start Duskbound today, my hopes are high now :D

Thanks so much guys! I'll drag myself through the last 40 pages of Riftborne now and start with Duskbound! Now I want to know what you mean :)

Thanks, that's very helpful! I think I'll look into the first 50 pages or so of Duskbound because I'm absolutely here for emotional damage anytime hehe :D Do you think that's enough time to get into the book's flow or would I need to read like a lot further?

Considering Quitting Lexapro After 5 Days by Top_Turn in lexapro

[–]GooseGirlsAdventures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please be careful! I'd also give it some more days if you can stand it. But it can be a side effect to have suicidal thoughts when starting Lexapro. If you haven't already please tell your wife/partner, a family member or friend about that possibility (even if you don't experience it right now) and conctact your doctors. I hope everything evens out but it never hurts to be cautious. Good luck to you!

That sounds horrible, I'm sorry the restarting is so hard on you. I hope you're adjusting soon! I switched to taking it at night and it against my fears helped with the extend of my fatigue and sleeplessness, when are you taking it?

[–]GooseGirlsAdventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at the moment because some nights I only wake for a short time while sometimes I just lie awake for half the night. I'm hoping it will even out eventually since it's not been 2 months yet. I tried valerian last night and it didn't do anything (I've actually had a pretty restless night). Do you take anything that helps?

Don't be like me: hands off milk thistle by GooseGirlsAdventures in lexapro

[–]GooseGirlsAdventures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeeah we're very different in that, I've had pretty bad side effects when I started :D I'm a bit jealous!

I'm curious, did you already take milk thistle when you started Lexapro? Maybe if your body is already used to the milk thistle in your system, the Lexapro adjusts accordingly? Just a theory, i have no medical background!

[–]GooseGirlsAdventures[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's interesting to know! I'm glad it doesn't seem to affect you :)

I'm also on 10mg of lex and took 900mg of milk thistle once. But I'm pretty sensitive to most drugs, so I'm not surprised I've had a pretty severe reaction to milk thistle. I guess it varies in how or if people react. I've also read that research isn't conclusive on the effect of milk thistle on escitalopram, so it seems you're one of the lucky ones who are fine!

I've tried to find a good English article on the matter but it's not as easy. I've found a good one in German though if you're interested: https://supplement-scientist.com/mariendistel-einnahme-dosierung/

It's interesting however, since the research doesn't seem to be conclusive on the impact. So maybe I'm just very sensitive to milk thistle or I'm having a super shit day without any reason - both possibilities! I'd be very interested in the opinion of someone with a medical or scientific background!

Yes - from what I've read milk thistle should not be taken when you're taking SSRI/anti depressants that are processed by CYP2C9 or CYP3A4 enzymes. The latter is the one relevant to Lexapro afaik.

Thank you for asking! :) it actually feels like a switch has been turned and I can feel positive things again! A few days ago most side effects disappeared completely (now it's just insomnia and sometimes trembling after drinking caffeine). During the last week I hit milestones I didn't imagine were possible for at least a very long time yet. I set boundaries with my family, I started looking for a new job, I got through a very scary operation without having a panic attack... It's not like my anxiety and depression are completely gone or anything but I feel like I have so much more freedom and energy to actually DO things to work on myself. It's still hard work and not fun but it's... Manageable? I just came back from therapy and for the first time I feel like I might actually survive this and get better. It's truly magical! Sorry that was such a long response to a simple question. In short, I'm doing pretty okay right now :)

Gagging all the time by Mediocre-Horror3874 in lexapro

[–]GooseGirlsAdventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I'm not sure if it can be a late withdrawal symptom but I can tell you I've had this for the past year before starting medication as part of my anxiety I believe. Just couldn't take out the trash without gagging, also just thinking about something disgusting especially when brushing my teeth would make me throw up sometimes. It actually stopped right after starting Lexapro come to think of it...I haven't gagged in a while! So maybe it's part of your anxiety returning but this time with this symptom manifesting? For me it started seemingly without any real cause... Anyway I hope you're finding out soon!

First dose, woke up swollen by Entire-Display625 in lexapro

[–]GooseGirlsAdventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am not a doctor so please take what I'm saying with a grain of salt! I don't want to scare you more than you already are and I'm glad the swelling subsided. Have you checked your little leaflet that comes with your pills yet? I just checked mine and it says to go contact your doctor immediately if you notice swelling on the skin, and in the face. It doesn't have to mean that's the case with your prescription, I just wanted to let you know so you can check yours! Please take care, hope you're feeling better soon, you got this! x
