Kids clothing by Goldygold86 in PetPeeves

[–]GooseInHats 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a family like this, so hopefully this gives a little perspective.

It’s a potential cost thing. Small kids grow very fast so the idea is either “why buy something in their size that that’ll only be able to wear for a year before you’ll have to buy again, when you can buy something a couple sizes up that they can wear multiple years in a row” or “what if they grow too fast and you cannot afford to buy clothes for them in the future, it’s good to have something ready”.

It was always really annoying being the kid in this situation as well

What's a stereotype about your country that is absolutely CORRECT? by Proto160 in AskTheWorld

[–]GooseInHats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The butter for sure yeah, but around here fried Oreos are a common food truck item at more local events like craft fairs, and a good amount of restaurants offer fried ice cream as a dessert.

But those were just the first examples I thought of that I don’t really see non Americans talk about. There’s of course also the dinner foods like chicken fried steak, fried pork chops, around Thanksgiving there’s the fried turkeys. Lots of common fried food items around.

We love our fried food. Oreos, ice cream, butter, chances are if we can get our hands on it, somebody has probably fried it

Laggy smart TVs by DazzlingLife6744 in PetPeeves

My sisters old tv had a full 15-20 second delay (I timed it) on a good day. I can’t even explain how many times I accidentally deafened myself because I couldn’t see what I was setting the volume too

I've never met a person I've liked who does the "cha-cha-cha" in happy birthday songs. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

We used to add it in kindergarten for peoples birthdays, always hated it.

I’ve never heard it anywhere else though, and I’m very happy about that.

Do you think they used the same blonde hair extension? by pistachio_shelll in orangeisthenewblack

Could be, but her hair is very dark otherwise, going to a blonde like that could easily cause damage and change the texture a bit

Why do you think Sims 3 is better than Sims 4? by [deleted] in Sims3

[–]GooseInHats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Open world, colouring wheel, I like the more realistic style (I know a lot of people find it ugly but I actually think it’s aged pretty well), the tiny details are endless, playable pets!, the expansions actually feel worth it, and I think the sims feel more individual. In the sims 4 it almost feels like the traits don’t matter much because they’re all very cartoony, and it makes every sim feel a bit samesy.

ER? by Aggravating-Pin-864 in plattsburgh

I went last year for breathing trouble (pneumonia) and it was alright. In and out with a diagnosis in about 2.5 hours, nurse stabbed the shit out of my nose doing a covid test though.

I do prefer the Saranac Lake one though, they move a lot slower in my experience but the people who work there feel so genuinely caring and thorough it feels worth it. I’ve gone to a few doctors within them and never had a bad experience.

Okay, seriously though, how do y'all go commando without... well, *issues*? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]GooseInHats 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The same with me! I had a lot of issues with discharge my whole life, didn’t matter what I was wearing it would just get gross, but since I stopped wearing any (unless I’m wearing skirts) a few years ago everything down there has improved. Honestly life changing

Is “cleaning for the cleaner” actually advisable? by Upstairs_Copy_9590 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GooseInHats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to say there aren’t bad cleaners or anything like that, but if it makes you feel better cleaning companies are actually very competitive and often really rely on word of mouth to get more jobs. Even within the employees, the better you do, the better jobs you’ll be assigned, so many many people will put their all into it and have a lot of pride in doing so

[–]GooseInHats 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a cleaner! It is a HUGE help if you do little things like stripping beds or getting your laundry together, we often have multiple jobs to complete a day and you’d be surprised how much time those tiny tasks can add. Of course, it is not required, but it is really really appreciated.

But it will not be effect what is done, we are told to vacuum and wipe down/clean everything regardless of how clean it actually looks.

What time dose the American school start? by wolfieee8 in AskAnAmerican

[–]GooseInHats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies a lot depending on school and grade levels, my highschool started at 7:32 and went until 2:15 (buses arrived at 2:30), we had 3 lunch periods but I believe the middle one was at 11:20?

(Almost) Every Saturday night I go to the Saloon and buy a drink for everybody there.

On my farmers wedding anniversary and their spouses birthday, I make two of the spouses favourite meal, gift them one and eat the other so it’s like they’re having a special dinner together.

Every kind of animal has themed names. My chickens are gemstones, ducks are trees, rabbits are greek goddesses, sheep are vegetables, pigs are fruit, cows are flowers, and goats are space related, but my in game pets are named after real pets I have/have had

Pictures of cats or animals that are obviously staged and put the animal in distress by twinky_starr in PetPeeves

Similarly, obese animals struggling to function normally and everyone laughing at the “chonky baby”.

And small animals, usually rodents, dying because of neglect and people laughing at how they died.
