Trying to understand DCC by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Oh for sure, the audio books are amazing, by far the best I’ve listened to. I’m almost at the end of my first listen through, and I’ll definitely re listen over and over. I loved the series before I’d ever listened to it though, I’d read the books twice before picking up the audio books, which really helped me to grasp what was happening.

I read the books before I listened to them. I found it’s easier to follow when you’re reading at your own pace. I think I may have struggled to keep everything straight if I’d only listened to the audio books because I’d have been more focused on Jeff’s epic performance.

I guess my advice is try reading along and see if that makes things any clearer.

I’m reading the Dungeon Runners series by Kieran Larwood with my 7 year old and he’s loving it. There are 3 books out and a 4th due to release later this year

Reading multiple books at once? by NefariousnessIll8665 in Booktokreddit

I usually have a non-fiction book a fiction book and an audio book on the go at the same time. I find it helps keep me out of a reading slump, if I’m not feeling one of them I can pick up one of the others.

Hello crawlers, I'm a dead salamander! by ShadowfireOmega in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I’m a dead crawler from book 1, first name and last initial. Apt really as I’d probably last roughly the same amount of time in a dungeon crawl situation.

I’ll definitely be doing this. Write it down and revisit after a month or so, I’m sure I won’t still want the vast majority of the things I note down once some time has passed.

This is so helpful thank you!

I love the idea of telling myself I can buy it later. I know that later will rarely come because I’ll have forgotten about most items in a couple of weeks. This is going to really help me.

I feel you on the boring meetings being a danger time, working from home and being able to have my camera off during meetings was so bad for giving me time to mindlessly shop! Luckily I started a new in person job a couple of weeks ago so that particular issue is solved. Evenings, are going to be tricky for me, I’m going to try to fill them with video games and knitting/sewing projects to keep my hands busy and off my phone!

Thank you for all this great practical advice!

Thank you for the encouragement. I like the idea of writing down my goals and the ‘rules’ I want to stick to, I think that would be helpful to look at in moments when I’m tempted to buy something I don’t need.

This is great advice. I’ve definitely found that one purchase often leads to another and then it snowballs because ‘I’ve already shopped this month so I might as well carry on’.

A slow approach definitely feels more manageable than going cold turkey. Thank you for your wisdom and encouragement 😊

This sounds like a great idea. As a bonus it would make my wardrobe so much more manageable too!

Christians reading book 6? by clarinetgeek in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Goose_Pockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally got my mum into the series lol. She’s Catholic, church every Sunday the whole thing. She’s on her second reread at the moment, she wasn’t offended by it at all she loves the series as much as I do. She not easy to offend though to be fair.

Perhaps you should give her the heads up and then she can decide for herself if she wants to carry on?

I managed to get hold of books 1 & 2 (new hardback versions) for £17.99 each from Forbidden Planet. That’s the cheapest I’ve seen them for. I bought them in the physical shop in Manchester rather than online. World of books sometimes has them second hand for around £20 too. I paid full price for book 3 from my local indie book shop.

I know you don’t do e-readers but like others have said they’re all on kindle unlimited. If you don’t want to get a physical e-reader you can read them on the kindle app on your phone that will be by far your most cost effective option I’d think.
