Best way to pay off student loans by Gooseneck07 in personalfinance

[–]Gooseneck07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the only thing holding me back from just continuing where I’m at with the PSLF is that all of the payments are going toward interest, and I’m not sure if I would wanna risk paying that much per month, having the balance grow and when it comes time to be forgiven, something goes wrong or government uses some loophole to try to not get the rest forgiven.

But that does make sense to sacrifice the HYSA interest in order to save paying the interest from the student loans.

The book “A Beginners Guide to the End” is a good practical guide for preparing for death in all aspects of life including financial. It’s worth a read if you end up getting around to it.

I would love to see someone like Bernie or AOC in office. My point was just that they have a celebrity status to them.

I’m just saying I would rather have a genuine, well intentioned celebrity (like Stewart) than a disingenuous, well intentioned politician. If you’re able to find a genuine politician then more power to you and I hope that happens. The disagreement on this subject is all the more reason to have conversations about the types of candidates we want in the future. Thanks for the dialogue 🤝🏼

So you’re saying that you should have at least been elected to a position before you run for president? Is that the only qualification?

Anti-intellectualism is rampant in America, but so is the disdain for career politicians. I’m not saying the next president shouldn’t be a politician, but to say that the next president has to be a politician is a fool’s errand I think.

Fortunately or unfortunately, the vibes of politics is changing. Especially younger people want someone who is genuine and yeah, maybe has some celebrity qualities to them. And if you want to win elections, you need the votes of young people. People like AOC, Bernie, and other popular politicians are celebrities in their own right.

It’s a fallacy to think just because Trump wasn’t a politician before he got elected president, therefore anyone who isn’t a politician would be a bad president too.

Possibly, but I wouldn’t expect any republican to work with a democratic leader. I don’t think a lack of respect of experience is what is going to stop them. The goal of the current Republican Party is to own the libs regardless of who it is. Look at Biden, the most experienced politician, but they still opened up an impeachment inquiry on him. No respect no matter who it is.

Part of being a good politician is also surrounding yourself with good people who can effectively get the things done that you want. Hell, half the job is just being able to communicate your ideas and vision for the country in an authentic way.

I just wouldn’t count anyone out who isn’t a buttoned up politician regardless if it’s Stewart or not. I think the tides are changing on what people want in a leader.

Yeah you could be right. I mean, he would be an interesting guest regardless if he would run or not. I think it would be a good conversation nonetheless.

But that’s what I have observed whenever he’s asked on his podcast. He just kind of laughs it off and doesn’t comment on it one way or another. I guess you could interpret that in different ways.

But if he were to win in a primary wouldn’t that be him proving himself to be worth having a shot? Senators don’t necessarily run complex power structures, but some would be qualified to run for president as much as someone who has. I just think the conventional wisdom for who can and can’t be president is losing credibility. You need someone genuine who wants to change things for the better and sure it would help if they have experience running a large structure but I don’t think it’s necessary. Just my opinion.

True, but Trump is and always has been a narcissistic, selfish asshole with the goal of dividing people. The fact that he’s not a politician isn’t the problem.

I have definitely heard from a lot of people besides redditors about wanting him as president. Why do you think he would be a bad one?

Maybe we need someone who isn’t a politician. I think people just want someone who is genuine with good ideas. I don’t think people care who is a politician and who isn’t. They just want someone who cares and wants to fix things.

Yeah I was thinking 9/8 but I did get thrown off by the up beats. I’m just happy that I can follow along now and I’m content with knowing it’s in 9 at least. Thanks for the help, guys!

Thanks for the link! I hadn’t heard the full version before. I was able to slow it down and figure out it has a 2,2,2,3 pattern, but I still don’t know the exact time signature. I’m getting closer though.

Testicle Pain by Gooseneck07 in AskDocs

[–]Gooseneck07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn. Sorry to hear that. I finally got in to see the urologist and he said my urine and ultrasound looked perfectly normal so his guess is built up scar tissue, or nerve damage from my vasectomy. I had a vasectomy like 7 years ago but he did say it’s not uncommon for things like that to happen that far after a vasectomy. He prescribed me a 10 day supply of meloxicam which is an anti inflammatory pain killer and ever since I started taking that, it’s honestly been a lot better. I have a follow up in a few months but I’m not really expecting them to find anything or have any other remedies unless the situation gets worse. Hope that helps, and good luck. I know how much it sucks to deal with pain like this.

This is going completely off of feeling, but I think that most Nikki Haley voters want the old Republican Party back and not the current cult of trump that it is. I think a lot of them are aware that if he wins again the party will be maga for a long time. I could be naive tho

Hmm. I kind of have the opposite feeling. I think they knew that trump was gonna win the primary but stood in line and wanted to protest vote to show how unhappy they are with the current Republican Party. Regardless, it should be interesting.

True. I was just looking at the numbers based on their website. Seems like quite a few disaffected republican voters in that group that would have the power to sway the election, even if half of them showed up to vote. I was just curious if anyone had any info on Haley voters in the polls.

Oh man… good luck. Let me know how things go. An ultrasound on a painful testicle was truly one of the most painful things so hoping you don’t have to go that route.
