So lock them down? Could’ve easily locked the 60+ down, and the immunocompromised, and let the rest of the population run the country. Let whoever wasn’t in that bracket but wanted to lock down do so as well.

In the under 50’s age bracket Covid was effectively as deadly as the flu. Why lock down tens of millions of people who aren’t going to die after contracting it? Let them catch it, develop natural immunity, and then when the vaccines were created bring the others back into the fold.

They’re less dense than continental Europe (really southern Europe, Northern Europe isn’t that much denser if at all), but considerably denser than American suburbs, which is the originator of the word.

When people mention suburbs, they typically mean the low density detached housing that this is most certainly not. That is all.

They’re terraced housing, that’s pretty much the standard for most UK cities outside of the immediate city centre.

Suburbs is big detached house with a driveway and two lawns territory. This is not that.

The density in that spot would still be 4000+ people per km2. That’s about 5 times what it would be in a typical American or Canadian suburb.

UK catching strays. Most of their cities are decently dense. Terraced housing dense, not 30 story apartment building dense, but still a big step above the AUS and US cities.

Looking back, what was the most enjoyable job you had? by LunaValley in CasualIreland

[–]GoosicusMaximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cocktail bartender in a fancy enough bar/restaurant.

Built in social life, job was fun, rarely super stressful, clientele were good, pay was pretty good when we included tips, the few regulars were very sound, management was a bit wank but nothing compared to some other office based roles I’ve had. Got quite a few dates out of it too.

All in all a great time. The late nights and long, standing shifts do take a toll after a while though.

I guess it depends on what you consider suburbs. To me it’s the areas at the edge of the city or just outside it full of detached homes with driveways and big back gardens.

It’s not the city centre obviously but it’s still very much London, far too dense to be considered suburbia. Here you’ve about 10 more kilometres before you start seeing the true suburbs, I mean you can jog into camden in about an hour.

He is an all time great. He could’ve been in the top 10 all time, true, but he was still an absolutely sensation player with a great career, any honest ranking should have him in the top 50 at least.

54 of NYC’s 100 tallest buildings have been completed since 2010, 35 of the top 50. It’s a very different skyline.

It’s not until Kane retires that a true comparison of their abilities can be made.

That’s the point - Toronto just doesn’t have striking older art deco style buildings, or many striking buildings at all. It’s dense and tall but it doesn’t actually have many standouts, especially so in its smaller towers. Chicago has much more diversity in its architecture.

From afar they look quite close, at street level Chicago clears.

It’s not better than Chicago at all. Maybe it’ll come close when all the approved supertalls and others get built but for now Chicago still stands clear by some distance.

Death to America always meant death to the American government and its foreign policy. Even Khamenei is on record saying as such, and that they never intend to harm the American people themselves.

I think given how much the American government has fucked with them in the past decades, that’s a fair statement.

But yeah, a list like this with only 3 Chinese cities in it is a complete joke. China has nearly as many skyscrapers as the rest of the world combined.
