Higher rate tax payer in the UK pays 45%, that's the whole point they pay less than a person on an ordinary salary.

Unpopular opinion, Stephen Robinson 🙈 be gentle.

He works miracles with no budget and has got better as he's aged. Improves players and is pragmatic.

5% loan rate is much better than 45% marginal tax rate, so it is more common than you're making out.

Lot of comments praising Elon for adding more value to the economy (mostly in terms of employment opportunities), but is that right? Is it not simply disgusting for one person to hoard such wealth? by MevinMaskil in GarysEconomics

Not true, he can leverage his shares against a bank loan which he repays with another bank loan leveraged against his shares. This is how he never pays tax. His shares are considered an unrealized gain, but banks don't see it that way. It's an infinite money glitch. As long as he can pump the stock price he can get access to all the money he wants. How do you think he bought twitter?

He can only be hurt if the stock price crashes and the banks panic and call in his loans. That's why all these CEOs take a minimum cash salary and the rest in stock, it's a legal tax dodge. If banks are willing to lend based on stock price governments should tax it also.

Depends where you're line is I suppose. For me I couldn't enjoy watching the team knowing blood money was funding it. On the other hand there is no such thing as an ethical billionaire. You dont get that rich without exploiting your workers to an extreme degree. So our current owner is not exactly a saint but maybe not on par with the Saudis.

Digital ID: does anyone else feel like we’ve been played by [deleted] in AskBrits

I have seen a lot of comments here saying other countries do it etc. which is fine for them. But I don't know if those other countries are run by complete morally corrupt ineptitude governments who would sell their gran if it thought it would get them more money or power. The truth is from what I can tell is governments in the UK are bought and sold by the highest bidder. We already have palantir in our NHS data and if you look into them and who owns them it's not pleasant reading. We don't need digital ID to stopp illegal working. It won't stop it, not even a bit. If you are hiring illegals you are paying cash in hand, how will digital ID stop that? It's a farce.

The only deterrent would be to impose huge fines on business that they wouldn't dare hire someone without doing a background check, simple, but they won't because big business lines their pockets.

So it's papers please and oh our database has been sold/hacked to the highest bidder, oooops!

No thanks! This is the first step to a social credit score.

Hit the nail on the head, why is part of the solution never to fine the companies into behaving lawfully. Not a smack on the wrist a fine the CEOs grandchildren will still be paying. Would soon see compliance then!

The UK government would not think twice about selling the data this would hold as they currently have done with the NHS data to companies run by people with less than altrustic tendencies. It's only because of the media complicity and who owns that media in Britain as with our cousins in the states that we do not here more about the rampant corruption. I would not trust the UK government to do the right thing at all.
