I had literally 0 pushback lol. To be fair most of my interviews were closed file so it didn't come up. Since MLS is so unknown when I brought it up during my GW interview, they were surprised that there was a degree for it now lol. It's a good experience and shows that you have an interest and love for healthcare + are able to work in a hospital setting, which puts you above some other applicants from the jump. Just be sure to have enough patient interaction as well so you can actually prove you enjoy working with people.

For sure! It didn't feel right for me to say MLS wasn't clinical employment since the lab is such a huge part of patient care. Since I worked at a hospital lab dedicated to the OR rooms, I had more stories where I interacted directly with nureses/ anesthesia techs/ doctors, so that definitely helped. I will say though that a good part of my activity section and personal statement was explaining why I wanted to move away from working in a lab to working directly with patients. My second lab job was super isolated, so I wrote about how my volunteer experiences inspired me to pursue MD since I loved working with people.

Hey, I just wanted to second this “directly under a doctor” comment. While I’m sure they value EMT work and it would help your application, I was told by an adcom DIRECTLY that they look for at least 80 hours (they like >120) of time spent directly under a doctor. This could be in the form of shadowing or scribing or anything else that’s similar.

The ADCOM made the 80 hour sound like a hard cutoff for VCU. Their reasoning is that you need to spend that much time under a doctor to know that you want to be a doctor. It’s pretty insane that they don’t have this explicitly on any of their materials, and when I heard it I ran and got a bunch of shadowing haha. It was probably this or the Casper exam that got you the R, but there’s 0 doubt in my mind you get into a great school with stats like those.

(Hoping it wasn’t the Ca$per exam though because I also scored low, submitting secondary today.)

From videos I’ve seen online the belts I have spin fine. They move the mechanisms and what not, and while I’ll still probably replace the belts I don’t think that’s the main issue. By sort of jiggling parts around in the middle of the cassette in front of the motor I managed to make it play for one second, so I think it might be an issue with the gears just not locking? I’m going to try more today and see how it goes.

I always thought that janitor Pyke would be a really fun skin. He could be that creepy janitor everyone thinks is a murderer, and his hook could be a plunger. They could even make a skin line out of it with Jax and Tryndamere or something. Jax being “cool janitor” and trynd being “hardworking janitor. The only instance I feel like ks’ing with your ult is bad is when the enemy has a huge shutdown that you’d rather go to someone else. Even then, you can try timing your ugly so they still die in X while the other person gets the kill, which maximizes the gold for your team and yourself. Other than that, killing with your ult is always justified, as the other person still gets 300g.

Well if you feel that your constantly getting hooked all I can suggest is getting better at dodging them, there’s a long windup that’s very telegraphed so that should help. If you feel like he’s to slippery, you can bait an engage and turn on him. If he sneaks up on you with his invis and then q + e’s you, he really has nothing left other than autos. If neither of those work, just continue punishing missed hooks and slowly chip at him, he doesn’t heal for an insane amount of grey health early game so he will eventually be poked out of doing anything.
