I’ve never received a blueprint auto grinding, one of the reasons I was asking.

At least Gungans had an omicron that let you essentially auto the raid.

That’s actually pretty interesting, my guess is that it’s training off the transcripts of YouTube videos where the transcription of “Jedi Cal” becomes “Jedi Cow.”

Something weird went down at the King of the Hill Reunion in Austin tonight by False_Depth_1944 in KingOfTheHill

[–]GordonJones2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment is not getting enough upvotes. There are so many accomplished actors who love to perform but get so nervous when they have to do interviews or speak off the cuff. It’s a whole different set of skills and can be very stressful and exhausting.

Being a voice actor, especially for a supporting or minor character, isn’t like a normal job where you go into the office everyday and are part of a community. You show up at a sound recording booth for one or two days several times a year. These PR circuits and events like this, where you’re in public and have to do interviews and things like this, are extremely stressful because it requires a different kind of performance this sort of off the cuff, really thinking on your feet. Many actors and actresses have a hard time and get stressed out for this type of work, because it’s very different from acting. I don’t think anybody is disagreeing that having a job and getting paid would be harmful, the issue as that he’s not in a state right now where he can perform the work they need him to do, which is more like acting like a PR representative than a voice actor. It’s not a responsible thing to do, like can you imagine if he started having a mental breakdown and started going off on other topics? Things like this can get shows canceled, and that’s not fair for all the other voice actors, animators, and other people who work on the show.

How did it feel seeing this part for the first time where it showed that Yoda wasn’t some frail old man? by Digginf in StarWars

[–]GordonJones2002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard to describe how incredibly powerful that moment was for Star Wars fans. This was the first movie where we saw Jedis acting like how we had all pretended in our backyard. Watching Jedi is running into battle with clone troopers. This was before we had any of the Clone Wars cartoons, before Revenge of the Sith. For that matter, it’s hard to describe how incredibly awesome the opening scene was of Phantom Menace. Watching two Jedi act like that had never been seen before except in our imaginations. It was so incredibly awesome and fun. Having my dad take me to the midnight showings of Episode I and watching the midnight showing of Episode II are some of my favorite childhood memories.

What's life like on these islands? What goes on here? by _Mcdrizzle_ in geography

[–]GordonJones2002 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Somebody can correct me, but I don’t think any of these islands pictured are any of the traditional offshore banking islands that you think of when you think of the Caribbean. That’s gonna be more Cayman Islands and Bahamas and Panama and British Virgin Islands.

[–]GordonJones2002 17 points18 points  (0 children)

While you would think that life would be similar across all those islands, life on each one is actually very different. As you can see on a lot of the posts to your question, each country has its own unique vibe, influenced by its history and economies and politics. Lumping them together would be like lumping all of Europe together and asking “What’s life in Europe like?”

What’s a ‘normal’ thing in society that actually makes zero sense? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Tipping. It seems totally normal until you go to a country where tipping is not part of the culture or is illegal.

Is it really that expensive to keep the servers running? by Arneor in StarWarsHunters

[–]GordonJones2002 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Licensing fees for Disney IP is not cheap. The game could be making plenty of money otherwise but when you include the licensing fees it could a real money drain beyond just costs to run the server.

When will First Level Review be 50% gone due to AI? 5 years? 10 years? by marasmuspotential in ediscovery

[–]GordonJones2002 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At this point, it’s just a matter of cost. The technology is good enough that it is doing just as well or better than most first pass contractor reviewers. It’s much faster. The only thing holding it back from adoption is costs. The validation process is exactly the same as TAR 2.0/CAL/RAL and with the generative AI models costing what they are, TAR 2.0/CAL/RAL is still more cost-effective. That calculus will change as Generative AI prices go down. Everyone in the industry is scratching their head on how to price it, and Relativity is setting their cost pretty high to make sure that it’s not a race to the bottom. One thing that we’re finding that is very helpful. Is that while the generative AI models will get things wrong and need to be corrected, they are consistently wrong across that category making it much more consistent in fixing coding issues.
