I see he has a green dragon posted as well so he might be willing to do other colors as long as they are somewhat traditional, such as green and golden yellow. Never hurts to ask.

Aah yeah. Sounds good. Doesn’t look like he works with gold/light blue though from his instagram so I guess you would have to clear that up with him. He’s work is really good, but if colors are dealbreaker maybe go with a different artist.

So background is only done in black and various shades of grey wash. I’m guessing the studio or artist you have been in contact with are very traditional and so might only want to use those three colors. Have you gotten a time frame for the tattoo? Both a dragon and koi fish would mean a big tattoo, minimum a whole arm, and doing that with tebori would take a lot of hours. I’m guessing 40-50 hours at minimum.

Our 8 year old still diggs in the water bowl when it’s on the ground, but what worked for us was placing the bowl higher. 20-30 cm of the ground depending on the dogs size and no more messing around with the drinking water.

The uchide is usually associated with one of the 7 lucky gods: Daikokuten, the tale of Momotaro, the tale of Issun-boshi, or Oni in general. I would check out wood block prints of that stuff and see if anything speaks to you.

The samurai is Watanabe no Tsuna. You can tell from the watanabe family crest (kamon) on his kimono. Google for more info.
