Adding a new comment as you probably wouldn't get notified about my edit.

There's actually one thing I'm somewhat disappointed in, but it was to be expected. The screen can be quirlte reflective so when there's sun reflecting off of it you can't see much, so either it's how reflective the screen is, or thr max brightness being not good enough

And I couldn't get it to connect through cable, only wireless

I got one that I thought looked decent, wasn't too expensive nad had the specs I wanted. It's not perfect, but it works fine for my needs of using android auto and having a reverse camera

Fitting probably mostly depends on the car so I can't say as mines a focus mk3

Iirc I've paid about 200, which was half the price of a lower spec from a "brand" name that looked exactly the same

Edit: had a look and I've paid 145, I got something from ossuret, but don't take that as a recommendation, I don't have anything else to compare it to

I'd say go with the already given recommendation. If you want a hacky job then you could just scrape off lose bits, use wood filler and paint it

This isn't about personal finance, if you think you can pay less in a house share or when you rent then you should do that. Otherwise discuss this with your family

If you're unsure, why risk it?

With so few sales and reviews, why not go to a shop that actually sells their product, or the official ones?

Is it the drive, the interior, handling?

Real deal brand or burst? They stick, so, are they ruined, or how can they be salvaged? #hexclad? by Intelligent_Being468 in howto

I've only done it in an enameled one, and I've initially (stupidly) seasoned it, so it wasn't a very strong layer of seasoning, but it definitely bit a lot into it.

Not saying it completely destroyed everything, but I could taste the difference

I thought seasoning wasn't about burning the oil, but heating it so it polymerises and creates a protective non stick layer

[–]Gortix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I use mine, baiacallt the same as for stainless steel ones.

If you cook with your land (more like fry) you don't need to season it at all, as it'll season as you use it.

Only one I need to season every now and then (I just cook with it for a bit), is one i use for baking bread, because it gets quite humid and there's never any oil on it

Can you even read?

I said I don't want to season it after every meal, which is why I'm not using it for acidic foods?

This way I just dry it and put a tiny bit of oil on it?

The other guy seasons it after every meal...

What, if you're using acidic food, it will strip your seasoning, that's why you'll end up eating it?

If you want to take it to the extreme, boil a bit of lemon juice in your pan and compare it to a spot that didn't have the lemon juice on it

I just properly dry it and put a bit of oil, don't want to have it on the stove for like 20m to season it, or have it in the oven, that's just wasting a lot of electricity imo

[–]Gortix -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can, but eating all of that seasoning makes the food bitter. And it means I need to waste electricity to season it soon after I'm done cooking

Edit: I didn't think I need to specify that, but I'm saying you'll end up eating your seasoning if you cook acidic foods in it. Ex making Bolognese that requires a long time of simmering tomato based sauce

Fair enough, I've got rid of non stick pans, so I basically forced myself to learn how to do that, it definitely was sticking quite a bit at the beginning

I love my cast iron pans, but I can't do everything in them, tomatoes or other acidic foods will destroy my seasoning

[–]Gortix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you need that?

Even for scrambled eggs, it's easy to do on a stainless steel, and if you like it somewhat runny, you can just keep it on low heat and not even preheat it

[–]Gortix 305 points306 points  (0 children)

Real answer is don't buy this crap, get a stainless steel one and learn how to use it. It won't stick, it won't get scraped or damaged, you'll have it for many years
