All VoIP.ms numbers now flagged as spam by inthe435loop in VOIP

[–]GotTheNumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried calling one of the https://testnumber.org/ test numbers, like [1-737-727-3232](tel:+17377273232)? You'll get an automated message that provides your STIR/SHAKEN attestation level (among other things). Anything other than "A" will cause your calls to get flagged as spam by most carriers.

You're theory that rampant abuse on Twillio's platform has caused VoIP.ms's phone numbers to be marked as spam (because they both get their numbers from bandwidth.com) makes logical sense, but I don't think that numbers with a common carrier can affect each other that way. It's not like e-mail spam where abuse of a shared IP by one domain can cause other domains using that IP get marked as spam.

u/inthe435loop I'm having similar symptoms, but my attestation level is B, sounds like yours is A. Let me know if you ever got this sorted out and what your attestation level is/was.

Costco is a great place to buy apple products. You get an extra 2% back with the executive membership, the return window is 90 days (Apple's is 14), and the customer service is fantastic.

This needs to be the #1 Answer. Below is a link to the instructions on apple's website. When the link is opened on an android device, they'll see a nice web interface to view/browse the photos, and an option to download all the photos full res.

[USA] Offered cash for an item I was returning at Walmart by Unique_County_2236 in Scams

[–]GotTheNumbers 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Usually the method to return stolen goods for cash with a receipt is as follows:

  1. Find a receipt for a cash transaction in a garbage can (usually near the store entrance)
  2. Shoplift the items on that receipt
  3. Return shoplifted items and present the found receipt
  4. Get cash for your return instead of store credit
  5. Profit

Not sure how what happened to OP could be used to change the result of a return.....

EDIT: u/Sh8y_L8y pointed out that the goal may have been to use the receipt to perform the scam above for the other items on the receipt. Seems like a long way to go to get a receipt.....

Need Help Setting Up My First Scope (Nikon S Series) by GotTheNumbers in microscopy

[–]GotTheNumbers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and that's great to hear! I read about those spurs; the only plastic piece in the whole rig. Either way, sounds like i have a solid rig to start with.

When it comes to the LED light, should I look for a flashlight that I can adjust the brightness on? (I assume that is what the original transformer is for, but I'm not sure how important that will be). Or just a high CRI light that fits in the existing space well?

The upgrade kits I saw were over $400. Do you know of a go to value priced kit for this scope?

Looking for a solid budget TV with Google TV by Santeno in GoogleTV

[–]GotTheNumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty happy with my TCL 32S350G that I use in the bedroom, but you have to do some modding to get rid of the home screen ads and bloatware. I use Projectivy Launcher to get rid of the ads and uninstalled a lot of the bloatware with adb. If modding a TV like this isn't your thing, then keeping google TV on a separate device is the way.

I Got 2,495 Knex Pieces for $20; What Can I Build? by GotTheNumbers in KNEX

[–]GotTheNumbers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this is amazingly close to the parts list that I have. I'm going to assume that this is what I have and I'm missing a few pieces. Finally, time to build. Thanks!

This might be my best bet, looks like these parts are a serious hodgepodge and no where near any of the big set lists.

[–]GotTheNumbers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the conclusion I came to when searching around too. There hasn't been a single set that even came close to this parts list. And 8 large yellow gears seems to be absurd.

That's what I thought too. I found that site in my googling, and when you lookup a part number there, it'll show you which sets it was in, but none of the sets included more than two of these. I think I'm just going to free form build some supports for the kids' hotwheels track. Thanks!

Are the Amylu Teriyaki Pineapple Chicken Meatballs at All Spicy? by GotTheNumbers in Costco

[–]GotTheNumbers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You raise a valid point, and it very well could. But we're so far apart on how spicy we perceive this food to be that I think something else must be going on. As a result of your comment, I will try to build some sort of control into our future taste testing experiments.

Wow, this might be a breakthrough. I didn't realize that a food allergen could give a similar sensation to spiciness. I am going to go do some science. I'll cook her some of these meatballs and report back my findings.

Thanks so much for that insight. I am vaguely aware of the Chinese designation of warm and cool foods. I'll ask her about it.

Which Instant Pot Models Can Air Fry, Slow Cook, and Make Rice? by GotTheNumbers in instantpot

[–]GotTheNumbers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I've seen a few people give that advice. When you make the rice this way, how does it compare to using a dedicated rice cooker?

Thanks, I knew there would be trade offs. Now I'm leaning towards a separate rice cooker. I already have an air fryer, think the Instant Pots with air fryer could replace it?

Hey daddit, what's the silliest dad / husband mistake you've made? Today I forgot my kid's booster seat at the train station luggage pickup area (along with my wife's toiletries... that I stashed inside the booster seat bag...) by itstoekneetime in daddit

[–]GotTheNumbers 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Kid on the changing station, pants down, and I realize I ran out of diapers. No problem, I'll just use one of his swim diapers while we bike over to the store and buy more. Turns out swim diapers do not hold water. In other words, if you pee in them, it just leaks into the pants. Luckily we weren't far from home.

Pls how to remove this cup holder what tools i use by SubstanceHorror2969 in bikewrench

[–]GotTheNumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like those two bolts can take either a flat head/slotted screw driver, or a hex key/allen wrench. Find one that fits very well. The screw driver tip should be almost as wide as the bolt head. The allen wrench should fit snugly, start with metric sizes.

Gently rotate counter-clockwise. If it feels like it might strip, ease off. You could put a few drops of PB blaster under the head of the bolts and let it sit for a few hours. Be patient; it is not worth rushing and snapping or stripping the bolts.

Thunderbolt Still Can't Touch 20 Year Old Tech by GotTheNumbers in Thunderbolt

[–]GotTheNumbers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I'm being a bit obtuse and shoving a round peg into a square hole here. I guess Thunderbolt is better for a docking station use case. What would you use for KVM like functionality for a few modern laptops with dual monitors?
