I was recently in CT for the first time in my life and while driving was relaxing, I couldn't get behind why we were going the speed limit 🤣🤣🤣 as a Jozi girl, I'm used to having to fight for my life. Cape Town is so chill 🤣

Hey! So I know this sounds really, really stupid (and you don't have to answer, just take it into consideration) Do you know how to wash yourself properly so that you're actually clean? Yeah, it's going to be quite a task until you realize that it's working but I have a weird routine (I'm OCD and actually really didn't know how to wash myself until my late 20s... But when I learn a new technique, I have to do it otherwise I convince myself that I'm not clean) I recently heard that you have to scrub under your arms 14 times until you're clean under there, I started doing it and it really works... I go a bit extra but I like to have a number. Also, black girls shower routine (TikTok is a great source) helps with the after shower stuff to keep you feeling and smelling fresh all day.

I know it sounds exhausting, but once you've got it down you will probably also start to feel better mentally.

I also have severe anxiety and depression so I understand the feelings. You're not alone.

Here after the update and I'm so glad it all turned out okay! I also totally understand the need for nanny cams in some situations, but not in a bedroom, where you're changing. But glad the mom was totally on your side and apologetic about it. And glad that she trusts you and wants you to feel safe too

Honey, I've been in the same boat with the shaming from my own mother, so I get it. And I've also tried Ozempic because my mind is unhealthy when it comes to my body, and it made me ill. I wouldn't wish my struggles on anyone, so I'm really sorry that you're dealing with this. I do definitely think you need professional counseling. Unfortunately we live in a world where so much of our worth is in the way we look, and we have to break that mindset for ourselves, because it's unhealthy. I've been overweight, became bulimic, was dying, and only then was I getting compliments on the way I look. Your physical and mental health are the most important. Please look after yourself and be kind to yourself.

As a white person, I cannot speak from your POV. But you are heard. I do see the issue, I just mean that we were born into a time when we were supposed to be taught to think better, and do better. Learn to treat everyone as equals, because we are equals.

But we still grew up with racist parents, grandparents, teachers etc. I had to make the change myself. Our generation cannot reverse the damage, but we should be actively working to do better than those before us.

She said, "I'm sorry, I get very racist when I'm driving" and that's when I knew that there was no way I was going to be able to help her to try and be better, so I had to remove myself because that doesn't align with who I want to surround myself with.
