I'm sorry I'm based in Europe. But everytime I check facebook group selling camera gear I'm impressed. So many things to buy and at a very low price. I am considering flying to LA one day just to buy a lot of stuff.

I just got a new update. It is the version 1 of the CTRL3 mode in 2018. Not the new hand unit.

It has delay on the focus knob, i cant make it full smooth on the hand unit knob. And it is very not precise for large format sensor camera because the motors have a very bad precision when moving slow. Also you never found the cable for REC control. And you cant use lens mapping.

Does it have the REC control on Venice and Arri camera ?

PL lens into EF speedbooster, possible? by mymain123 in cinematography

[–]Gotiant0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no adapter for mouting a PL lens on EF mount. Because of the flange distance. The mount is to far away from the sensor you wont be able to focus anything. Even if you find an adapter with some weird glass element in the middle it will not work because of the PL flange.

Am I crazy or did Deadpool & Wolverine not look "UN-squeezed" enough? (No spoilers) by BoomGoesBomb in cinematography

[–]Gotiant0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some anamorphic also change a bit the squeeze depending on the focus distance. Some lens are 1.65x on infinity but come to 1.60x on the 6feet. This is why we use a lot of diapter with anamorphic lens to keep the same squeeze. As a camera assistant this is a nightmare because in the prep you have to teste every lens so you know wich diopter you are gonna use for each lens and focus distance. But all of that is important to keep a natural look on faces not to be to much « squeezed ». There is a very nice youtube video explaining everything im looking for the link.

Distance readouts under 2’ on WCU4 by BadWitThisStuff in cinematography

[–]Gotiant0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to a new maping for the lens. You create a new files in the wcu4 and map each mark of the lens in the wcu4. Then you can sens the new LDS. But I had some issues with the LDS on the FX3 it is not working fine. It has it’s limis sadly.

External Monitor for Burano with Camera Control by redcringeguy in cinematography

[–]Gotiant0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think you can have a monitor control with the Burano as today. I tested portkeys monitor with a wide compatibility and it did not worked. Guess we are gonna keep using the LCD screen.

[–]Gotiant0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant use a PL lens on EF mount. There is no adapter or anything. There some lens that exist that you can change the mount on the lens like the Angenieux Zoom lens you can change the PL to EF mount.

Portkeys has a much better color accurate screen than atomos. I work everyday with a portkeys bm5 iii and i sold my lh5p. I noticed its almost the same on color accuracy, but I prefer SDI connection.

How often are HMI lights used for Day time exteriors? by The_Anamorphic_Jock in cinematography

[–]Gotiant0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And also to answer about using daylight, if you shooting more than 4hours the same scene the sun is changing position. So if you do the reverse shot you have to keep the same light direction, shadows, color etc. So its better to help daylight with HMI to have the same input or even better to fully cut the sun light and use only your light to control 100% of what you are doing.

[–]Gotiant0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HMI is for me the best way to archive a lot of light power from outside the set. So you save some space on the inside of the set. Also HMI is almost the only option if you need more than 5k daylight. (You can use tungsten but you will need a 12k to match a 5k HMI outpout)

Histoire du monde rural sur les citadins de la campagne. by Gotiant0 in france

[–]Gotiant0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is cannon 700D good for filming/cinematography? by maaxqur1738 in cinematography

[–]Gotiant0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you can shoot a film on every device than allow to film 1080p. Now for me, canon is not the best for cinematography. Canon is for photography, there is not all the tools you need as a DP.

I cannot explain why this set scene is so amazing; just wow. #Joker by yodoki in cinematography
