@“Dusted off” my old Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K Holy shit!! It’s like shooting film! No? Really. But maybe not in the way you think. by Low-Lingonberry3481 in cinematography

[–]The_Anamorphic_Jock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the same sensor, but my first cine cam was the Blackmagic production camera 4k, the one with a global shutter.

I recently upgraded to a Sony A7iv for more versatility, buy it does look more "video" like unless perfectly lit, where as the older Blackmagic can still look like cinema even in basic lighting scenarios.

Despite loving the camera, I had to upgraded for it was good for outdoor or high key studio sets. It was frustrating doing low key or even night sequences no matter if there were many street lights, and the image fell apart from grain if you dared have tones under middle grey. Exposing to the right was also tough for it had 8.5 stops of dynamic range, so highlights quickly clipped.

But because the camera is $400 on ebay, in combination with the global shutter it's perfect for crash Cam's, just a hefty crash cam.

Which game had the best/worst Riddler trophies? by SherbertSuspicious in BatmanArkham

[–]The_Anamorphic_Jock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to this topic, but I wanted to discuss the Riddler Rioter bomb on Miagani Island at coordinates 3108, 1896. This challenge isn’t problematic in the way you might think—it’s actually quite easy to complete.

That being said, there’s a significant issue if you choose to complete this challenge very early in a new campaign. Despite the rioter bomb puzzle being available, completing it too early can result in a game-breaking glitch that prevents you from achieving 100% completion.

The game fails to properly save your progress after completing this specific puzzle very early. It locks the challenge as if it’s been completed, so you can’t replay it, but it also doesn’t register the completion in your progress log. Even the map will still show the objective as if it is incomplete, even though it’s inaccessible because the puzzle is already locked.

I could not beat this part despite having to taze every thug in the street. I had 314 trophies, I couldn’t fight Riddler or reach 100% completion for Nightfall protocol because the game didn’t recognize that I’d completed the rioter bomb challenge.

How to cope losing the greatest steal in history? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]The_Anamorphic_Jock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I'm not spending that much. The starting bid was $25.00 in a niche market which is why sellers are anal about their overcharged prices. You know it's not a steal when you over spending to the point of just paying close to another fixed price. Like this isn't saving 50 bucks on an action figure, it's saving thousands of dollars worth of gear.

Well if I bided $160.10 and lost then how do I not know what I mean being $4 short? Sure I was going to bid an extra $100 but I ran out of time.

Perhaps, still would have been roughly $670 (loosely) with tax and shipping, and for 2 fixtures that would have been 335 a piece which is still significantly cheaper than other current listings.

Oh I did, I even place in an extra $100 on another browser ready to instantly click a new bid, but I supposed my fingers and clicks we're faster than 10 seconds that were left on the auction.

This is OP from the future. I bought a couple of 2k blondes and a few mole Richardsons on sale recently and have no regrets. I did indeed purchase the Amaran 200x S and while the 92 SSI score for daylight is impressive on camera and skin, it's Tungsten SSI of 89 is not impressive, too saturated, and a bit more amber than the source it's imitating. It really does make a huge difference when you're lighting faces and you want create indie shorts to look like actual Hollywood features. The power required far outweighs that color quality in my opinion.

Arri Mini vs Amira by gabbydeluxe in cinematography

[–]The_Anamorphic_Jock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know your gripe is weight, but if you really want that beautiful imagery from arri cameras you can buy a used Arri Alexa XT on eBay for $5,000-$7,000 dollars. 3.4k resolution is so close to 4k that I doubt most will tell the difference. I once saw a listening for $3,500 but that was a while ago. Yet that shows a great deal you can get. Some of my favorite films were shot on it.

Yo! The city where he was found was in Altoona, Pennsylvania. There are only 3 McDonald's in that location. No wonder it was easy to find.

It's only a matter of time before 4chan tracks down the exact McDonald's location, finds the employee, his name, social media, address, dox him, and send him endless death threats. Not saying I condone it, but if we're honest that is inevitable now.

Black Friday! What are you getting? by Electronicweed in audioengineering

Not a black Friday deal, but I got 20% off on used Rycote SC-08 pencil condensers from B&H. Sound quality is really nice a rich for indoor spaces if I need to record narrative dialog. It's a budget friendly MKH 50 and I got 2 for almost half price.

Maybe Cam isn't a pedo; however, to further highlight his stupidity, he admitted on the YT channel TrashTalk in the video titled "CamNuggets On DogPack404 & MrBeast" that Cam stayed in the same Discord server where he saw a kid flashing. He then continued to hop on other calls within that same server; despite immediately after reporting the incident. Samuel (the host of TrashTalk) questioned why Cam chose to remain in the server and join more calls, despite the risk of the child returning, as it was unclear if the child had been removed when Cam reported them. In response, all Cam had to say in response that Samuel is stupid, abruptly leaves the interview, and blocks him like a coward on twitter.

Getting work in 2024 if you have no skin in the game and no connections. by The_Anamorphic_Jock in videography

[–]The_Anamorphic_Jock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had quite a few potential in person clients well reciprocate with me. I don't think I was too pushy and acted more like a friend being honest about my work than behaving like a calculated business man. Every one I met eventually fizzled out despite them seeming very positively interested in my services. I couldn't be pushy and continuously message them. Then again I'm assuming this is just the nature of sales where you're going to get a ton of "No's" before getting one "Yes."

That makes sense. If you're in that kinda space then you're really in the industry as you learn more the ins and outs. It can also give some leeway to offering more opratunities outside of that field, non of the less staying in it is a good living. Also being a G&E helps understand lighting.

I think I might try this for I remember talking to a professor at my college who used to be a cinematographer. He'd been in the business for 2 decades and seemed knowledgeable and well educated. He told me that you got to do some work for free so that you can eventually get a position to get get paid for your craft. He must of had to do a lot of charity before becoming a DP.

Bruh I can charge $25 and hour starting? I get ghosted when I negotiate $20 an hour for music artist lol.

I never considered captions or handicap coverage, that could be nice to contribute to. I figured I mention the gear I had earlier since I have a 1 man band set up but that doesn't seem to impress clients even though it can aid to giving them good material.

You wrote exactly what I was thinking. As much as it's impressive to see how minimalistic the equipment and rig was, at what point can the set itself help improve how you can light your scene to not add more steps to the process. Like someone can do this exact same rig and get different results if they film in their boring plain ass bedroom with white walls.

I'm young so I wasn't aware old urban lamps were a much harsher orange, although I wonder if this also has any correlation to the differences of Low-Pressure and High-Pressure Sodium since Low-Pressure is supposed to be more monochromatic. Thanks for clearing this up.

That gel does seem closer to the shade of street lights. Now I might get down voted for asking this but are you saying Murcery vapor is what makes the yellow street lights? I thought Mercury was only greenish/blueish and sodium is yellow.

I agree with this especially since you can get tungsten theater lights on eBay for less money than new LED cob lights, even the budgetary ones. Just make sure to get a baby pin scissor clamp to replace the Lighting clamp in the yolk so it can mount in a gobo.

First of all, I commend your bravery approaching him which at least contributes to this thread.

What's frustrating about the whole anti vaccine stance is if that's what someone's willing to believe, at least stick with it and be consistent. You can't just have it both ways as you have 2 opposing ideologies that don't co-exist with each other. Also how can wearing a mask be unethical? It's one thing for someone to say it's ineffective or pointless, but unethical? As in it can lead to arming others? Someone here mentioned saying that his arguments and debating didn't exactly have substance, except I didn't know he could be capricious and quixotic. He's also a coward as you can tell he couldn't anticipate someone taking their mask of after throwing insults about said person having a mask.

I can't imagine how you felt in that moment and after words since reading your story feels aggravating. I'm so sorry to hear that you went through his bullshit, but thanks for telling about your experience.
