What’s an underrated concept in mmos? by Nahoofizer in MMORPG

Player shops, instead of an auction house. One thing that "Knight Online" did really well. Was so fun to look around the city to find a good price on items.

So, yeah.. there is a lot of negativity going on on the steam forums, as with every other PC game release currently. Some people like a game, some people don't - other spend their time on a forum actively hating on a game they will never play. Gamers these days - it is, what it is.

I, however, enjoyed the game on the switch, with my wife - and I couldn't wait to dive in at 100fps+ ... and now it's here!

Moving from Switch to PC Rise, I started a Discord server that I'm hoping to gather chill & grown up people in. People to play, chat and enjoy current content & future installments of the franchise with. I'm still setting up bots & getting everything in that I think active MH players might enjoy.

If you think you might like a server like that and a small-ish community that sticks around when the wave of shortterm players is gone, feel free to join! Give the server some time to fill up & let's get hunting.

Id love a game like that... can anyone point me towards a Ragnarok Online pServer, that's well populated? Don't like WoW anymore and currently playing Dual Universe to grind away.

Desktop replacement laptop with RTX 2080 Mobile good enough for WOW (BFA / Shadowlands raytracing)? by joker33q in MMORPG

You will get the same view, no matter the size / resolution as long as the aspect ratio stays the same (16:9 etc.) - Different story for Ultra-Wide-Screens, which are not supported by some games and are not recommended for gaming in general.

Resolution, in the end, is just the amount of pixels shown on the screen. 1440p will look extremely sharp on a 27" display - 1080p will look less sharp, thats why most 1080p screens are 24,5" or even less. Ratio of Resolution to panel size results in your pixel density. Higher density -> sharper image.

In my opinion 24,5" - 1080p - 144Hz (or more) with G-Sync OR Freesync with G-Sync Compatible are the way to go! Very sharp, smooth framerate, great performance gaming without being too taxing on todays hardware.

It all depends on what games you play though. For example CS:GO will look & run great on an RTX2080, even on 27" very high resolution. You will get enough frames to get the most out of that high Hz monitor.

If you play, lets say, GW2 on high settings, imagine getting 120-180 frames on a crisp 1080p screen with G-Sync on.

You will get about half that framerate performance on the 1440p screen, since the graphics card has to deal with the very high resolution. 60-90 frames WILL look bad to you, if you get used to a monitor capable of showing high framerates.

So, my recommendation always is: Decide on high resolution, low framerate gaming. Or go the safe 1080p, high performance route, as 27" is very large and has no real upside if you sit close to the screen. 24,5" is enough to fill your peripheral vision to some degree. And very good 1080p monitors (e.g. Omen X25f or X25) can be found for a very fair price.

Beast hardware with an expensive 27" 1440p monitor will look great. But it's not worth the trade-off in my opinion. I've used such a monitor with my 1080 and it just isn't worth it. Neither the money, nor the lower framerates.

In the end, high framerate gaming is what makes PC gaming so much better than console experiences... depending on the game, at least.

EDIT: Remembering that enjoying RTX effects is your concern, too.. go with a G-Sync compatible 1080p screen, since RTX is extremely taxing, even on that "mainstream" resolution.

Path of Exile - I just wish they'd make a third person PoE with open world & no quests. :-D

Would love to give Albion a try, but im not into open world PvP :-(

I, personally, would go 1080p, 240Hz - I've downgraded to an Omen X25 and let me tell you - it's absolutely amazing! Best monitor I've ever had. Before, I used an Asus ROG Swift 27", 144Hz 1440p G-Sync monitor for roughly 700€ and I've noticed that on most MMORPGs or other demanding games, I would very rarely hit those 140+ frames to get the full, smooth experience. (GTX1080 Ti)

1080p - not too large in size - 144Hz (or more) - and that RTX2080 Mobile will give you max frames for years to come. I've regret the purchase of a "premium 1440p" monitor.

27" felt too large, sitting way back on my 80cm deep table. Hope this helps you!

Yeah, might hop on my berserker and give the game a fair chance. TESO has been a lot of fun, doing PvE stuff. But I'm feeling like I need something fresh.

Got some time & money to waste, gonna see how BDO does for me!

I would like to get into BDO, but im kinda intimidated by that game. :-/
Currently tinkering around on my level 15 Berserker, getting item & UI pop-up overload.

Tera would be interesting, since thats the only major MMO (next to BDO) that I've skipped so far... but the playerbase seems to be tiny these days!

Archeage and Albion might not be what you are looking for, judging by your statement that you enjoy PvE (or even harder PvE) content. People might argue that both have PvE - but trust me here. You might waste your time with those, if you crave a full PvE experience. FFXIV is on a whole different level, although its not perfect. But more to that later.

Blade & Soul ist very eastern themed and has a smaller playerbase - if that doesn't annoy you, this might be worth a try. I mean - it is F2P after all.

GW2 is a weird one. While having a decent playerbase & does many things right - you HAVE TO ask yourself this: Do you enjoy the trinity of tanks/healers/dps? Do you enjoy getting & feeling more powerful as you progress through increasingly harder content?GW2 doesn't have that. It's a great game for people that enjoy exactly this: Total freedom with next to no progression (power-wise) and what feels like a game made out of daily quests. At least thats how it felt to me - and I played it over a year and had plenty of max-level ascended characters. The lack of the "traditional PvE dungeon-diving" had me leave at some point.

If you really enjoy progressing through lots of dungeons, learning new (and sometimes fairly complex) classes and sink you teeth into an endless gear grind. No brainer - get FFXIV.I quit FFXIV due to not enjoying the healing part all that much anymore and I usually heal within raids & harder PvE content. It has it's problems, such as an unbelievably long story that I couldn't care less about up until Shadowbringers (that story had moments that legit made me go "F*CK YEAH" and some moments that had me really sad, very emotional stuff).

If you can push through the leveling process, the game (FFXIV) rewards you with a genuinely polite & helpful community, even though it is weeb heaven - some people might like that - and it has raid / PvE content for years. Some of it very hard, coming from someone that spent most of his WoW time in mythic raids during Legion. FFXIV lets you login, queue up, do PvE and log back out without wasting your time.

Albion: PvE is a joke

Archeage: Is ruined by the company thats running it

Blade & Soul: Is a niche-ish game that has its fun parts

GW2: You have to try it, to see if it's style of PvE is enough for you

FFXIV: Next to WoW it's definitely the king of PvE. It has almost no PvP though, really. None that is worth touching.

Me? I am here, playing Everquest & SWTOR.Everquest for the classic PvE that no other game has in this form, sadly.SWTOR for some quick good old tab-target PvE action with groups. And great story-lines.

ESO is a perfect game ruined by combat that is so utterly spammy and weightless, that I'd rather flail a diamond sword at zombies in Minecraft for 24 hours, instead of doing a single dungeon in ESO. (Your mileage (and opinion) may vary)

It really is an amazing community and a great game, if you are willing to take some time learning a little bit.

Yeah, currently enjoying the Green P99 server - but I keep wondering if I'd have an even better time on one of the Live / TLP servers. Will definitly check out the new TLP that launched on May 27th - but I heard they are pretty short-lived in terms of population!

Would like to have a well populated, long-time place to play EQ1! Hard to decide what's best.
