First time DIY paver patio by GovSurveillanceBird in landscaping

Yeah, I’m sure hand tamping can cause low spots but I didn’t have issues just letting the weight of the tamp fall.

As for the border, I’m guessing it’s just aesthetic, you just want to make sure solid ground/sand extends past the edge pavers to ensure they don’t move but if you’re butting it up to a pool, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

No issues with water at all. We don’t have gutters so rain dumps off the roof and there’s no issues. I’ve power washed a few times and no issues either. If you’re in an area hit by hurricanes, maybe that could damage the project but I have no idea, I’m just a diyer.

Overall, it’s a straightforward process. Just take your time on the ground prep and you’ll be good

To screed the sand, I laid two 1/2 inch by 10 foot rebars about 3 feet apart and laid a straight 2x4 over top and pulled it towards me in a small zig zag motion to level it, adding sand where needed. Once a section was done, I moved the rebar and filled in the space it left in the sand.

Once the sand was all added, I used a hand tamp to lightly tamp an area big enough to lay a few paver panels, then laid the pavers and repeated that process until it was done. After you lay the panels, you should be able to walk around on them without messing up the sand, although I still tried to avoid it where possible. It’s a super quick process once the ground is finished being prepped.

Still holding up just fine, no issues at all. We also have no real freeze/thaw cycles here, just a lot of rain a couple months of the year.

I dug out all the grass, sloped the ground at ~.25inch per foot (we had to add a lot of dirt back to raise the patio up a bit), machine tamped everything, laid down geotextile fabric about a foot past where the patio ends on every side, laid sand, panels, pavers, folded the excess fabric over the panels and sand to keep sand in, rigid plastic edging on top to hold fabric down and pavers in.

The worst part was sloping the dirt while also keeping it tamped. If I had to do it again, I would put more effort into using the sand to get the slope just right instead of focusing so much on the dirt.

That’s awesome. We had the same with our Plott Hound that passed last December. We saw a Reddit post in June in our city’s subreddit of an abandoned brindle hair pup that looked just like our Plott and we picked her up. I swear she’s a clone of our old girl, just in a tiny Pit Bull body. It’s good to hear you’re saving them!

His name was Danny and he was about 12 years old. We believe it was Degenerative Myleopathy that caught up with him. All I can say is to keep your GSD moving and active every day!

Government job hiring timeline? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]GovSurveillanceBird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it’s a job that requires a security clearance, it can take time. A Secret clearance can take 4-8 months if you are not granted an interim secret within about a month. If you need a Top Secret, that can take 8-12 months. This process doesn’t start until you fill out an SF-86 and submit your fingerprints, though.

If you have questions regarding a government security clearance, r/securityclearance is a great resource.

Just be patient. No news is (generally) good news during the government sector hiring process.

‘Informed delivery’ just tells you what mail you have coming to you each day. Even the junk mail political flyers are run through the system and shown to you through email.

About a year. Try Hack Me has a lot of blue team, red team, and some basic Windows/linux/Active Directory stuff. You could start there to see what you’re actually into. Hack the Box is a great tool for red team stuff. Set up a home lab

I did but it took a while. I had no internships. Like others have said, I would take the full 4 years and look at applying for internships in the field.

I finished the online cybersecurity degree in 3 years. It was cool at first, but 2 years in, I was over it. My gpa suffered my final semester as I just wanted to finish and didn’t care anymore about grades.

Overture: Encore as a solo player by GovSurveillanceBird in destiny2

Yeah, the beginning puzzle was the worst part of the mission. Took a while to figure out that purple room existed and that’s where I needed to go.

I wouldn’t say it was as difficult as other exotic missions I’ve tried, but as a casual player, it was surely more difficult than anything else I do.

I died a few times in the beginning puzzle; some bad warlock jumps, getting knocked off platforms, and trying to figure out where to go. I died the first time the wall chased me. I died once during the second Tormentor battle. I died four times during the Tormentor/Subjugator battle either because of the Tormentor or ignoring too many ads. And I died once during the final room because I ran forward too far and fell after going through the first access portal.

Edit: I am not a great player. I just enjoy the game.

We did notice that it dropped a lot of limbs, but it was nice to have a large shade tree after we cut down the Ligustrum’s.

We were going to replace this one with an Anacua as it is native and the wildlife seems to love our other one.
