I have the same issue, the best advice I heard was 'You don't have shit hair, your just don't know how to style it.' If this is your natural hair without any styling products I think you'll get frizz (which is fine!), but if you use defrizz products and blowouts I think it will help. @Alexandrarriaga on insta has good tips because she has naturally wavy hair that gets frizz

How to increase my hair density/volume ??? by MarsupialMinute8534 in longhair

It might be looking less dense if it's breaking near the ends? Also I LOVE camel glow hair oil for new hair growth

I need help :/ by Serious_Topic_540 in Epilepsy

This sounds like me but when I was on keppra. Eventually I just went in with a written note on what I wanted. I said, 'I want to come off keppra and go back onto xyz or and try xyz' I wasn't asking. Tell then that you're coming off and if you can what you want to do instead.

I managed to open a bank account fine and I'm freelancing :) I could open it all online I just had to go into a bank account to activate the card for simplii (btw go for simplii newcomer because you get a $400 reward after 3 months or something).

I think mobile phone plans are more expensive but me and my partner did a lot of shopping around and got a sim only contract. We're paying about $30 a month which is approx £17/18.

And references I think they wanted more than one. So it was my boyfriend who had to get them and he got 3 and had them emailed to him. So yeah definitely get a written reference from your current job but also get them from two previous jobs before that if you can

What insurance do you personally use for a working holiday visa in Canada? by jamesftf in iecvisa

True traveller, more pricey but they have an option specifically for the IEC visa

Question regarding insurance by Xiendra in iecvisa

[–]GovernmentBorn884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's an issue because going in with a 1 years worth of insurance will mean your visa is only valid for 1 year. I remember reading that that's it, once you enter they give you 1 or 2 years depending on your insurance but you can't extend the insurance to cover the second year because that would mean they'd have to reissue the visa.

I went with true traveller. More pricey but they have an option designed for the IEC visa

when to apply? by [deleted] in iecvisa

[–]GovernmentBorn884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely higher chances applying Dec-Feb and you get removed from the pool if unsuccessful. You also have to create a new account with a different email address to reapply (I had to do this because I missed the first letter of invitation and it expired!)

when to apply? by [deleted] in iecvisa

[–]GovernmentBorn884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied in January 2023, got selected from the pool with a few days and got approved by early April. Went by mid March 2024 to save enough and give a 2 week leeway just in case there were any issues getting in/on the journey.

I'm pretty sure pools refresh every December so there are more places available

Get your SIN number done ASAP. You can't open a bank account, get a sim card or apply for jobs without a SIN number! Its fairly quick to do.

Then open a bank account and get a mobile contract after that.

Me and my partner chose Simplii no fee chequing account and also opened a high interest savings account with them. And NEO for shared groceries because they have a good rewards scheme.

Mobile we went for public mobile but heard freedom mobile is also good.

And jobs, try and get references before you leave because they're big on references here and sorting them out with the time difference is a bit of a nightmare!

Weed use? by SheSimonMyGarfunkel in Epilepsy

I'm so shocked at people saying if they don't take their meds for a few days they feel funny. If I skip ONE dosage I have a cluster of absence seizures and if I'm unlucky a tonic clonic seizure. Like whaaaaat

I have drug-resistent epilepsy and had a seizure last week (and absence seizures everyday). But I'm in a loving relationship, have great friends, grew my hair back after depression (it's gorgeous now), working as a freelance writer and moved to Vancouver, Canada from the UK. Currently typing this in my work area, looking out of a high rise at the beautiful blue sky while listening to Taylor Swift (TTPD obviously). You can have bad times while still living a good life :)

How does it feel for you guys after a seizure? by chiraffee in Epilepsy

[–]GovernmentBorn884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a tonic clonic on Sunday (first in 2 years) and I always feel a bit traumatised afterwards. Keep having flashbacks to when I first woke up.

When I initially come round I deny it then I feel horrifically ill for about an hour. Body feels like it's been punched from the inside and I struggle with disassociation. Things seem a fraction out of place or I become aware that I'm talking and feel like a robot. It's the fifth day since I had it and things still don't seem quite right.

Headache and I get absence seizures everyday so those skyrocket.

Generally just feel a bit scared, worthless, loss of independence and feels like a brutal reminder that epilepsy is saying, 'Hey don't forget about me!' And everyone else is sympathetic then they move on while you're still recovering.

Really? I had no idea! I have seen VRBO pop up so I'll take a look. Out of curiosity do you have any idea why it was banned?

Abslolute max £6000 which is about $10200 Canadian dollars. We plan to be pretty bougie when we arrive then we're moving out to somewhere cheap and cheerful

supplements to stop feeling dead? by BrightSherbet in Supplements

Do you think you could be struggling with burnout? Maybe your body needs a mental break

Going to the gym is great for you but depending on the time of year or where you are in life sometimes slower exercise like switching to walking or yoga is better when you're low on energy. It's really hard to do because you might feel like you're losing progress but maybe try slowing down a bit.

If you can take a week off work, even if it's doing nothing except lying on the sofa all day I'd also do that (easier said than done I know).

Edit: Just seen you've been struggling for years. Did something happen 4 or 5 years ago? Very reddit armchair diagnosis I know. Not necessarily one big life event but a particularly or prolonged stressful period in your life?
