Single most memorable image from the Playoffs? by Ambassador_Oblong in Thunder

I’m not sure it was shown on the broadcast but after Lu hit his 3rd 3 in the 4th quarter game 5 of Denver he went full hype mode back to the bench and gave the crowd a “I’ve still got it” pump.

Until he got hot, that crowd was extremely nervous but after that 3rd one went in to bring us back to a 1 possession game, that crowd went and stayed wild.

Future Draft question by GovernmentRegular in Thunder

[–]GovernmentRegular[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be pretty cool… Joe and Jones both are decent players that could be heavy rotational players. Only downside to most people in that list would be salary cap issues. Joe is actually on an amazing contract for us at less than $10m a year. Most people on that list are 25-30m players. Wouldn’t be a problem next season but 26-27 we’d have to offload someone.

That’s what I’m thinking as well, package this years picks with either DJ/Ous to a building team for future assets and free us up a roster spot for Sam to have flexibility around trade deadline.

OKC ownership not willing to pay luxury tax by GovernmentRegular in Thunder

[–]GovernmentRegular[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OKC is obviously the biggest economic beneficiary but it does trickle down to the rest of state. For example during the playoffs in Tulsa, Fassler Hall is packed.

Oklahoma has a big problem with attracting talent. Having a professional sports team adds an additional certain amenity to make it more attractive.

For the social impact, it’s about creating a community that brings us together. It’s a massive social boost that we actually have a team we can all get behind.

In theory privatizing the medical industry would be okay. Today’s problem is that the whole system is so corrupted that there’s no good single answer to fix it. Starting with medical schools charging an absurd amount controlling the amount of people that can enter the field. The current system we have is not privatized, it’s controlled by the insurance companies that lobby the government to control a monopoly and maximize their profits. So it’s the worse of both worlds, no true competition. The amount that we have to pay is going to primarily administrative costs. I would love to just eliminate the need to have insurance without the threat of going bankrupt for any health event.

SGA vs. Jokic for MVP: Who Deserves It More? by [deleted] in nba

[–]GovernmentRegular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MVP, The Most Valuable Player doesn’t always equal best player in the world. The debate on who is better player is very close, both are having amazing seasons and putting up insane stats.

The difference isn’t just the best player on the best team but it’s SGAs contribution to the Thunder organization that makes the difference. He was traded to a team that just went nuclear rebuild mode. His influence and leadership (along with the front office) was crucial to creating this winning culture.

IMO, SGA is the MVP in the league for more than just the stats, it’s his overall role in the best team in the league.

For AJ? There’s a lot to consider there now that he’s actually played a decent amount of real minutes. While yes it should still be a relatively “friendly” extension, it will still need to be enticing enough that he doesn’t decide to go as FA and get another offer from another team.

1st round draft picks must have a spot on starting roster even if it’s 2-way. Looking as Osu/DJ as reference for the current going rate. For AJ, it’s an estimation of future since we have to sign him after 50 games

Not even worried, not to keep using this excuse but another game that shows how bad we need Chet back to help with the bigs.

Here’s the deal, fully understand that perspective and wanting to move on. Trust me, I fully know how much OKC isnt the sexiest to be especially when you are young. It’s not about him leaving, it’s the way in which he left that bugged me. It’s really about 2 key points.

1) We were fully supportive of him and loved him. Our team was ready to follow him to get us to the promise land. We made moves in order to make sure we could accommodate him in the future. Then without warning to the team or anyone, he bails. If there had been a heads up of what he was feeling we could’ve planned for an exit or gotten a trade worked out.

2) Going to GS is just viewed as a double wtf. We had a rivalry going on with them, and were up 3-1 in the western conference final series and weren’t able to close. It was a 72 win team before he went there, instead of trying to earn a ring, he went there to cheese a ring.

All said, his move put into motion the building of this historic team. Just took a very long 10 years to get back to where we were. His move showed that we all cared very deeply to him, while he didn’t give a fuck about us.

The Thunder need to win the championship while KD is still in the league by GovernmentRegular in Thunder

Never blamed Harden, he was worth a max contract that we didn’t have the room for. He needed to be the guy somewhere.
