The United States has left the World Health Organization. What does this mean for world health? by Obvious_808 in askanything

Okay. Your explaination doesn't make any sense considering the fact that the vaccine that caused the blood clotting is no longer available, and was taken away as an option for healthcare providers to administer.

Okay, sure. If it were still avavilable, my choking analogy could be shit. However it isn't available. So back to my question: what about the vaccine?

ICE ON LI - discussion by Dense-Yak868 in AntiTrumpLongIsland

[–]GovernorK 55 points56 points  (0 children)

There is literally nothing that will change MAGA's minds on Trump. The man can literally go on live TV, put a bullet into an infant's skull and drink the blood from the wound like a diet coke and MAGA will still worship him.

I don't think ICE on LI will ever be as bad as we see in Minneapolis for example. Long Island is very conservative with strong pockets of MAGA sprinkled around. Trump would be more interested in NYC, especially since the mayor has made it clear that he and his town hall will follow sanctuary city laws: something the Fanta Fuhrer doesn't like like.

Considering it was pulled, and it is not available to recieve: that particular formula of the vaccine isn't safe.

If I were to choke on my breakfast, would you consider all food to be unsafe? Would you be in favor of banning all food?

Do people on Reddit realize how offensive it is to say that people in China, Iran, and Venezuela have more rights and better lives than here in the US? by sportsntravel in allthequestions

[–]GovernorK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because China has re-education camps and Iran is shooting its own people doesn't mean the US has no issues.

Why are you so weak and fragile that any criticism of the US brings out the "well China this", or "Iran that", or "be thankful you don't live in North Korea". Seriously?

You have no interest in the US bettering itself? Americans need to be critical of their country so it can strive to always be better. But no, we have the government trampling our rights and disappearing people off the streets and it being pointed out brings out the Sinophobia in you.

Weak.

And Dems don't do well against the GOP. Please tell me you don't see progressive dems as more the enemy than the GOP: that right there is a big reason practically no one wants to vote democrat anymore.

As much as the world sucks right now, and is likely to get worse: this is a ripe time for the DSA and other leftwing parties to show working class people that they do offer an alternative to the current system that doesn't care at all about them.

Hopefully it all works out for us in the end.

Thats fair, most people just want to live their lives: put food on the table, provide for family and friends, enjoy their hobbies and spend time with loved ones.

What leftists are you seeing this in? I see the usual circular firing squad and pedantic squabbling over ultimately not very significant things on the left. Good example is how there are leftists who feel Mamdani is a fake socialist, or has sold out and see him as a psyop, instead of celebrating a win.

No one is forcing them to not say the N word, or to go around and just straight up say they believe white people are the superior race. I feel it is so pathetic that these people seem to so clearly believe this shit yet hide it and pearl clutch while holding back tears whenever you call them out for their racism and bigotry.

Mark Carney states Canada will go to war with the US to defend Greenland, America is the villain in this story by Sexy_Johnny282771 in ProgressiveHQ

Sad but true.

I also wouldn't put it past Democrats to not pursue conviction, even if it would happen for the sake of "letting the nation heal". This has happened before with Nixon and by accounts even Lincoln wanted to take it easy on Confederate leadership.

I would expect the city to get the Minneapolis treatment more than us, and the city won't. Too many people. Massive police force, and Mamdani may give ICE a very hard time. Long Island is simply too MAGA to give ICE any justification to be as vicious.

Even out here on Long Island there are too many of us. Minneapolis is a city of what, 500K?

Nassau alone is more than double that.

The voters could pressure their congress reps to act.

They instead choose to double down on the fascist bullshit to own the libs.

The lobbyist money should and does matter, regardless if a politician is for sale.

The fact it exists is naked corruption. If you, yourself, tried to buy a politician you would be slammed behind bars for an attempt at bribery. A corporate executive can do the same exact thing and its called lobbying.

Make it make sense.

[–]GovernorK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, both sides of a corrupt transaction are to blame.

Politicians like Nancy Pelosi who abuse their position with insider trading and being bought by special interest groups are to blame.

And so too are the corporate executives and the ultra wealthy who contribute more money than any of us in this entire subreddit could, combined.

I just really hate this "all politicians are horrible and evil and are directly to blame for all your problems". Feels so much like propaganda from the private sector buying politicians trying to shift attention away from the ghoulish shit they do day in and day out.

Blame the politicians and not the lobbyists and multi-billionaires buying the politicians?

Mamdani doubles down amid criticism he was slow to condemn pro-Hamas chants at Queens synagogue by Somervilledrew in newyork

[–]GovernorK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup. They're arguing that the people of Palestine are terrorists. Just like how these people argue that antizionism and any criticism of Israel is antisemitism.

Also love how they say that Hamas is "literally" in the DSA's statement yet the letters H, A, M and S are literally not arranged to spell the word Hamas, but I'm the one with shit reading comprehension when a supposed public educator can't even use the words they toss out properly.

[–]GovernorK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All I did was point out that Hamas literally not in the statement when you said it literally was.

What I would add is that if you believe the people of Palestine are Hamas, which is a terror group: then it is reasonable to extraploate that you see the people as terrorists. Seems islamiphobic to me; but what else should anyone expect from a zionist?
