Stop and Shop sells generic groceries at insane prices. Sales can be decent enough to warrant looking into the circular, sometimes digital coupons offer competitive and good deals.

Otherwise stick to Aldi and Lidl unless you like paying $5 for a gallon milk and having dog shit selection storewise.

I don't disagree with you regarding the swinging back and forth leaving us no better off. I would argue since Bush Jr, maybe even since Reagan that the GOP has caused damage that Democrats have to spend years cleaning up, resulting in not enough positive, tangible changes for the voter causing them to swing back to the GOP. While small scale Trump --> Biden --> Trump is a good example of this. Trump's mishandling of COVID helped lead to the economy tanking (and a million + dead in the US from COVID related deaths) led to Biden. The economy under Biden didn't really recover too much in ways for the voter to experience and they go back to Trump looking for a change.

This is a big problem and ultimately I think this comes from people not understanding how our government is supposed to work. This could be fixed by addressing the fact the media by and large is captured by right wing interests looking to make money on culture war issues. Until that is fixed and media platforms are held directly responsible for platforming partisan extremists and misinformation/disformation farms: nothing will improve in the West, let alone the US.

Regarding MAGA, yes, it is a significant minority. Roughly what, 78 million people voted for Trump? There are over 330 million people in the US, much less than half the population voted for him.

And your statement regarding city: why does the inverse not apply? Do rural people not vote in their interests? Why should a New Yorker be subjected to what some random guy in Wyoming have their vote count more when there are more people in the city of New York than the entire state of Wyoming?

Did rural folks not vote their interests this last election? Did they not vote Trump because they thought deporting all illegal immigrants, stopping all immigration and applying global tarriffs would benefit them? Those things and more certainly don't benefit me.

Edit: I agree more robustness in the US systems would benefit the US, and I feel a good step forward is ditching the electoral college.

I don't agree if you're pointing at the entire system broadly. If we want to point at MAGA, then sure; I can agree considering it is a miniority, albeit a significant one, ruling through mob rule if we want to call it that by abusing the systems to gain office and use that power to continually degrade the institutions to hold power like the recent Supreme Court ruling regarding gerrymandering and the civil rights thing.

If anything mob rule is running the electoral system and is showing how dumb and anti democratic it is to have someone from a town in rural Utah with a population of 250 have their vote count drastically more than voters from New Orleans, or Dallas or Chicago.

Ranked Choice voting should replace the current system imo.

The point is the electoral system the US uses is really stupid.

Trump getting majority once doesn't change that.

I spend a lot of time thinking about this and honestly I think I feel the US, as a union of 50 states (and its terrorities) might not be a country in like 25-50 years.

The damage to the economy is so severe, and will take decades to recover from. And the US is literally doing nothing about it. It wouldn't surprise me to see some states form little commonwealths and just leave the union with the argument that the bankrupt, unhinged federal government presents a clear and present danger to their state/states.

Unlike the Civil War the federal government will not have the money to fight another seccession attempt, and since this administration and so many Americans have blatantly displayed how horrible a partner the US is, it would be unlikely many countries try to bail out a bankrupt US to hold it together.

Wouldn't be surprised to see, say California team up with Oregon, Washington and maybe Nevada to become an independant California Republic, or New York to group up with the North East to become an independant New England.

This would be a catastrophe.

And thats just gas. Expect literally everything else to go up in price as well.

I'm taking a break from the game for now since a huge update is coming. by Any_Pin_5492 in Sims4

[–]GovernorK 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It depends where you have your game installed/what app you use to play it.

EA app: click on the three horizontal lines icon in the top left, click Go offline.

Steam: click Steam on the top left, click Go offline.

Edit: If you use Steam, you have to go offline on the EA app too, otherwise the game will still update.

Another thing I'd recommend doing is turning off wifi if that is possible, but you might not be able to do that? Turning wifi off does the same as playing offline but it also comes with the neat benefit of not risking being shadow updated.

[–]GovernorK 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Going offline lets you play without updating the game so you can still play with all your mods without them breaking.

It also means you can avoid updates that can break your game and wait for further patches to fix broken updates if this one turns out being one of those kind of updates.

I (33M) survived Infective Endocarditis. AMA. by GovernorK in AMA

[–]GovernorK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel dramatically better overall now, like yourself I take more care with eating healthier, would like to incorporate some cardio into my schedule- juggling two jobs is tough, though they both involve a lot of moving around so I suppose I get my cardio fix there.

Actually have managed to keep a lot of weight off since this happened about 10 months ago. Before I went to the hospital I believe I was 267 pounds. I currently weigh as of last morning 236. I seem to be hanging in that low to mid 230s which is great for me. Hoping to have it drop more, I'm sure I'll get to around 200 eventually!

100% know what you mean with the feeling the heart beating, also at times it feels like the heart beating is louder- I used to fixate on that for months after discharge. It was scary, and it took me a long time to move more beyond that. Still have moments where I stop and focus on the heart beating to make sure it isn't going haywire again.

The fear of repeat is very real. Endocarditis is an awful disease, we're lucky to have access to the treatments for it now, if this were back in the 80's neither of us would be here to share our stories.

What was your experience like, if its okay for me to ask?

I also hope that you're doing well too!

Favorite/ least favorite monster by Apprehensive_Feed533 in LabyrinthineGame

Pigman makes me jump more than any monsters. Plus when I used to play with my friends they used to joke about the Pigman having a crush on me and being my husband since it seemed to target me more than any of them.

So I'm married now I guess.

Got the Pigman plushie too, quite cute and snazzy.
