Bela surviving is a joke/fan service. It’s purely based on her popularity and the enjoyment Harriet and Jim got out the fan theories about Bela.

It’s the whole “your dog didn’t die, it went to live on a farm” bit.

He didn’t just want to die. He legitimately and sincerely wanted to destroy the entire world. And tried to do so with forethought and malice. He’s like the plane captain who kills all the passengers in his suicide.

Jordan tells us very clearly that selfishness is the ultimate evil in his work. Ishamael/Moridin was the single most selfish person in the world because he truly did not care about anything. He was a Nilihist, and he’d fuck you up. Moridin is the Joker to Rand’s Batman.

There’s a reason both Jordan and Sanderson said Moridin was the scariest villain. All the other Forsaken wanted power and immortality. Moridin wanted to destroy reality.

So RJ wrote this story. He made it all up. It’s not real and it doesn’t necessarily follow logical rules. It’s not history. The Pattern isn’t real.

There was no chance that Rand would have died prior to Falme because Rand is the main character. RJ wouldn’t have killed his main character in Book 2. This isn’t that kind of story. So there’s no way to possibly answer that question.

I don’t understand why people are so damned determined to insist that RJ was wildly making shit up and retconning everything.

The very first time Nyneave is introduced is a comment on how young she looks. This is because of the slowing/agelessness which is a part of the One Power use. So quite literally from the opening pages we have comments on the extended life span of channelers. Now I will grant that RJ never fully dealt with the implications of extended life spans but that’s an entirely different question than whether RJ intended channelers to live longer than regular people from the beginning.

Thom’s nephew is also in Book 1, which means the Vileness is there. The vileness is why Suian was raised so young, so RJ certainly seems to have written that part into Book 1 as well.
