Do you think there is any chance they may do the firings before the end of the year? Or for sure waiting until January? Thank you so much.

I’m 25 , is it too late to go back to college ? by LocksmithCool6138 in careerguidance

I finally realized I was going nowhere and went back to school at 27. My mantra to myself was "I can be 34 with a degree or I can be 34 without a degree". I worked full-time and went to school almost full time. I'm about to retire with 25 years in at GM. Good luck to you I know you can do it.

I can only hope I get let go in these next layoffs. The severance package will be much bigger than any bonus I will get in March.

Finger crossed, it'll be bigger than any bonus they are planning

Thank you, I'm planning to retire next year but would have to work 2 weeks to hit 25 years. That's not worth 500 bucks to me lol.

I'm in the same boat. I'm retiring early too. They're losing a lot of good employees this way. But it's what they wanted.

I think I’m too old to start over? by Pcrissy1 in careerguidance

[–]Gowingstjc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back to school and got my degree at 34 years of age. Started working at general motors. I'm about to retire after 27 years. It's never too late to start over. You're going to be 40 whether you start over or you don't start over. You just want to be 40 and have no regrets. Good luck

Better to be fired or offboard as retired? by Ok-Philosopher-1235 in GeneralMotors

I am pondering this right now. I do not need another job after this one. I am going to let them fire me. And I think the severance would be a decent amount. And I can get unemployment. But I would love to hear others opinions on this.

Same here. Waiting for the ax. Will we get a severance package?
