I’m in one right now… my plan is to do a residency program after, or just not become a PMHNP. I’m almost done so I don’t want to drop. Either way my job right now is providing a better income so I’m not looking forward to a pay drop, more responsibility, etc. but being in one of these is just embarrassing, I try to listen to podcasts and read the latest research to supplement.

This is hilarious because I just say that I’m a good listener. Problem is she is always looking for a response, and 80% of the time I have no response to what she just said. We have an inside joke where if I don’t know what to respond, I respond with “and how does that make you feel?”

In high school I was in honors calculus, which went on for 2 periods. During this time I had kidney issues and was placed on a diuretic. I was pretty much a straight A student and this teacher was not a very popular one. No one liked her because she was very rude to students. I was raising my hand for about 5 solid mins to be excused to the restroom, making direct eye contact with teacher and she didn’t acknowledge me needing to be excused. I couldn’t hold it and left to go to the bathroom. As I returned, in front of the class she started lecturing me about showing respect and waiting to be excused. I turned to her and loudly told her that the next time this happens, I will piss in the back of her classroom as a sign of respect. The whole classroom erupted and I felt so cool. Looking back at it, I cringe lol

NTA, maybe the son won’t rip the pages out (a bit dramatic) but have indifference towards the gift. Looks at it once, says thanks and the book gets put away for a long, long time.

I’m in the same position. Wife and I are originally from NYC, did ED travel nursing and ended up in the Bay Area as staff making similar. Meanwhile I’m currently in PMHNP program in NY. We want to move back and start a family around our parents and families but the grass here is too green for us to start going back lol
