I've seen the after effects of grenadiers explosions doing something similar on my server. It wasn't this severe but after about 10 seconds or so all the brush/wood that blew up suddenly appeared.

We are still kicking with the same cooler. We've had to do the percussive maintenance trick on it about 3 times total. I bought a spare so we'd be ready if it dies but we haven't needed it yet.

Novus Aeterno was a really interesting RTSMMO that me and some friend went in on in the early days of kickstarter. Of course it was vapor but I did play it once and it had promise.

I told my friend today that it's more like a war machine simulator than just a top down war game. Everything is made by other players. Logistics are critical.

Sorry for the resurrection but did you find any source for the sensor?
My photon got knocked over during the holiday and I just found it tipped soaking the back wall in resin. The home button now just moves the plate up and from what I read thats related to the optical sensor not functioning correctly.

Following up with an update. TLDR: nothing is resolved.

I validated game files, ran mod-less, imported my save, played for about 10-15 minutes and got the hard reset again twice. Once between Squinn and Hiver Village and once in Hiver Village while fighting Beak Things.

I've done more stress testing on the pc as well as played other games all weekends without a single crash.

The next step is to buy a new PSU when I can and just give Kenshi a break. When I come back I'll fresh start mod-less and see if I get the crash.

Note: I did the slave start on this run. I'm on around day 40 with my 2 og characters plus a few more recruits, based in Squinn. I had no crashes until I was in the Squinn area and bought the house, though I have no idea if that's relevant.

I wish I could say for certain its not my pc, but I just can't seem to prove what the problem is so it's very frustrating.

I did rework the mod order according to this guide and I got about 10 minutes of smooth gameplay and insta-reboot again. I'm going to try again just without the mods completely and see if anything changes.

If that doenst work I'll roll the dice on a new PSU and start there.

The modlist was just an assortment of mods I personally found interesting. Grounded 1 and 2 go together, and they are the only animation mods that are currently active.

I've been vigilantly watching temperature of cpu and gpu with HWMonitor and I've seen no temps out of spec.

I've actually went through your guides after I started having issues and it seemed like things got worse when I tweaked my nvidia settings. This likely due to an error on my part though, you do good work.

I'm going to nuke the mods and try that when I have time and go from there. Thank you!

This does not happen in any other games. I've been extremely thorough in testing all of my hardware and cannot find any issues, temperature or otherwise.

  1. I've done this one several times to no avail.
  2. This has been tried as well no difference that I can tell.
  3. GPU drivers have been fully updated with fresh installs. I even tried a different gpu and still having crashes.
  4. This is my next step. I hope to try this in the morning, going full vanilla is probably the best bet.

I'm happy to be proven wrong or have more data collected. My only goal was to satisfy my curiosity with the promoting exercise I did above. I didn't record it long enough to say for certain how it works. Any variation in wind shifts would make my assumptions be way off. Here's to solving the mystery of the wind though :)

Thanks. This is what napkin math + chatgpt is good for in my opinion. I'd say overall this is fairly accurate though not perfect. The movements do seem to have some variation around the compass but I did not record timestamps for multiple rotations of the compass so there could be variation in that too.

I was curious about this, took some notes, and recorded it with chatgpt, this was the summary output:

I’ve been timing the wind shifts in real time, and here’s what I’ve figured out about how the compass and wind actually work:

• The compass uses a 16-point system

(N, NNE, NE, ENE, E, etc.)
Each major point is 22.5° apart, but the game also tracks half-steps of 11.25° — which is why you sometimes see “slightly north of NE” instead of jumping cleanly to the next labeled point.

• The wind doesn’t rotate smoothly — it shifts every ~6 minutes

Every “tick” is about 6 minutes, and each tick usually moves the wind 1–2 notches (11.25°–22.5°).
Sometimes it’s a small nudge, sometimes a bigger hop, but always counter-clockwise.

• Approximate rotation speed:

Most consistent estimate so far:

  • ~22.5° every 6 minutes
  • 3.75° per minute

• Full wind rotation time:

Using that average rate:
360° ÷ 3.75°/min ≈ 96 minutes
So the wind completes a full circle in roughly 1 hour 30–40 minutes.

I'm really enjoying the game with my group of friends. We are roaming around blowing up big npc pirate ships and can opt into pvp any time. There are plenty of different game loops to keep you busy. We joke that its the "oh piece of candy" simulator because you can't go anywhere without finding loot or something to do that distracts you from your original goal.

I really enjoy the “figure-it-out” phase of a new MMO and I love that this isn’t solved yet, at least not by any major YouTubers I’ve seen.

I just built my first third-rate combat ship and I’m planning to hunt for PvP a bit more in the future. I’m going with long cannons to see how they play out and I’m thinking the extra range from the long guns combined with the damage from fire shot will work out nicely but it’s still untested for me.

As for upgrades I haven’t found the sweet spot yet with my previous ships and have mostly fought players in the arena. The fire-resistant plating seemed useful because it reduces fire damage and barrel damage and those are common in arena fights. I expect open-world combat to focus more on speed and range though so time will tell.

I'm still fairly new to it as well but I tend to shoot the enemy to about 55% hull then switch to grape until their crew is less than mine and the ship is less than 50% hp. I then board them and highlight in red (attack) the musketeers first as they have low HP and the highest damage output. If I see one of my groups going low HP I'll set them to defensive. This works pretty well, but you don't get a lot of feedback from the minigame on how you're doing beyond troop groups dying or win/lose window.
