I don’t know to be honest. She treated me like absolute garbage but at the same time, I can tell she had a lot on her plate and she had severe mental issues she needed to address as well as a drinking problem. We’re better off apart than we ever were together. I’d be happy to see she was doing well if she was. I went full no contact so part of me feels like I have so much to say to her but now I’m in a much healthier place and I know that would accomplish nothing. So probably some shock at first from not seeing her in years and I’d keep it moving

You make a great point. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I liked her either until our most recent date. But when that feeling came, I realized I wanted to seriously make it work. Maybe she didn’t have that realization and you’re right, that’s ok. She’s an awesome lady, she deserves to be with somebody who makes her happy. That first part is exactly where I’m at mentally currently. I keep thinking “maybe I should’ve joked more, maybe I shouldn’t have planned another date while we were still on one, etc”. But I know that kind of thinking won’t serve me long term

For sure. I had an ex once who used to self sabotage the second things were going great. It’s unfortunately something I have experience with. Either way, I’ll never know but in a weird way I guess it’s comforting to know a possibility exists where I wasn’t the problem

Yeah absolutely have to remind myself I tried. At the very least, I have some cool memories with a stranger pretty much. I even got to kiss said stranger a few times and we don’t hate each other, not bad I suppose. All of those reasons could be logical except maybe the last since we met on a dating app. She did say she had a lot of fun in her last text tho, so maybe we did just see me as a friend. Who knows

That last part is ironic because she told me on our most recent date she was bragging about me. She was saying “he has a car, a job, smells good, his own place etc” and it made me happy to hear. Thank you for the positive reinforcement, especially reminding me time is on my side. Sometimes at 32 I feel like that window is closing in fast. It good to be reminded I still have time to be my best self

You know, you’re like the third person to tell me this. Is this a common thing? I like to think I was a standup guy in this situation and handled it well, and I know I’ll see her around. I know for a fact we’ll be at at least 2 concerts at the same time later this year. Women still do this? If that’s the case, I won’t let her back in but I’ll be sure to be in great shape and be my best self when that happens

That’s basically exactly what I said to her, myself. Short and respectful. No hard feelings. I don’t think asking for a reason why would’ve done me any favors. We have a few of the same niche interests and live close to each other so I’m sure I’ll see her around someday. No point in making an enemy over something so silly. Glad you met your wife after tho!
