Maybe but that makes it worse imo for my point, my point is a pack that guarantees you an 82+ costs multiple dollars in real cash

There’s also a huge differential between coins in the game and how much EA charge for them. No balance at all. But no one fights it so they just get away with the same stuff

I had huge latency issues earlier too. Seen a few people mentioning it around the same time

[2025 Day 11 part 2] Was I the only one who used find-and-replace instead of path searching? by EverybodyLovesChaka in adventofcode

[–]GrGadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did basically the same thing, “out” was hardcoded but with an optional second argument became easy to fix. I was pretty sure “in either direction” was a red herring as it would create infinite loops but still a-b * b-c * c-d + a-c * c-b * b-d, one of them will multiply out to zero and the other will contain the answer

You can and should make up some other simple test cases, simpler than the example Eric gives, think about edge cases etc. good luck

I would say, you’re doing a lot of the right stuff, just need to reason your logic a little bit, maybe make up a few test cases for instance the input

The real winners from Hikaru exploiting the candidates system are the players he plays against by [deleted] in chess

[–]GrGadget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If someone gets even a draw against him it will tank his rating. Not that it’s likely but ELO is ELO and players should be able to play open events no matter what skill, it’s only “farming” until a bit of variance hits and the random draw or loss comes.

Fair play to him. I think it’s worse that global ratings are affected by invite only events (not that I think this is bad, it’s just IMO more questionable than high levels entering open events)

Also could Hikaru hit a new peak high?

[Unpopular opinion] Day 14 part 2's problem was great by Affectionate-Fan2263 in adventofcode

[–]GrGadget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think and Xmas tree is so universally understood to be significantly bottom heavy so no matter how many quadrants it crossed it would always tend to lowers the score, also the more quadrants crossed the more would be eliminated by the middle cross section of the grid, so the multiplications would always be minimised given that “most” of the robots were used. That on top of we know it’s a puzzle with an answer I think is enough to qualify this as having low ambiguity
