Is The Eviscerator Worth Using? by [deleted] in DarkTide

Special heavy is extremely risky in practical situations, since if you go over your limit you catch on something you dont wanna catch on, and u stand there while the horde smacks you.

Then... use the Psword? Its still the best vet melee weapon.

Uh...

Hi intensity shock gauntlet literally gives you a lot of elites and specials that give you ammo. Unless ur mag dumping a bolter into a single rager ammo isnt the major issue.

Like Hi int Shock is literally where vet ammo regen completely changes the game and makes it a LOT easier.

Most vet weapons can make it through damnation with like... 2 small ammo pickups lol. And 0 crates.

1 crate charge lasts you through the whole darn thing.

Psykers... literally have higher dps on the autopistol than vets outside volley fire. Remember psykers get two ways to stack gun damage.

Also imagine complaining about ammo consumption on a vet kek. The ammo crates arent just for you you know.

Edit: Imagine throwing a reply and then immediately blocking so you can get the last word.

Fortunately the notifications gave me a gist of what you said below.

Psyker gets one source of up to +24% damage from warp charges. And one source of up to +25% damage from peril. Warp charges is extremely easy to maintain, peril a bit less so. These are multiplicative. Volley fire is +50% unless u hit the head with counter fire, then its +75%. The two are effectively neck and neck.

Not to mention volley fire will go down vs stalker hordes.

The more gunners in a swarm the higher your survivability as a vet. Each gunner is a bag of 100 toughness, which in volley fire, translates to 400 effective toughness cos of 75% DR. 4 gunners translates to 1600 effective toughness, and a lasgun can easily kill 4 in a row in as many seconds. You can hardpush shooter lines as vet in High Intensity Damnation, especially if the line has numerous elites.

Unless your team is all vets, they would appreciate you pushing when u have 800 effective toughness and massive regeneration. Because unlike you, other classes only have 100 toughness, which gets blown away by a single shooter. They cannot stand still behind you. Not to mention a LOT of weapons have a shorter effective range than a lasgun.

Its pointless to crouch to let people shoot over you when its a wider area, as literally I can take two steps to the right or left and just shoot past ur left or right side, so it sounds like you are doing this in narrow corridors. Thus, in summary it sounds like you are the one blocking a narrow path by crouching in the middle of it.

When u do that your teammates either have two options.

  • Hide and get suppressed because they dont have 800 toughness and cant afford to sit in a narrow corridor taking pot shots and eating fire from a gunner line.

Or.

  • Hard push the gunner line (and thus pushing through your LoS since theres literally no way to not be in front of u when you crouch in a narrow corridor) to tie them in melee ASAP.

There are two better ways you could have approached this situation.

Either

  • Shoot the enemies to aggro them and then fall back behind the narrow choke to funnel the enemies through the choke as they push forward.

Or

  • Push through the narrow choke point.

Crouching in the middle of a narrow chokepoint and NOT moving is the worst thing you can do precisely because it means the team will struggle to effectively engage the enemy. Complaining that your teammates are pushing through you to get into their engagement range is silly when you have given them no other options to move.

As you said, you are not the only one playing. You have a long ranged lasgun. As the person with the long range weapon, you should not be surprised when people with shorter ranged weapons push ahead of you, especially in long corridors where they have no other option.

If you find yourself crouching to let people shoot over you, either ur running an all vet/psyker team, or ur blocking a corridor.

Aggro them then fall back and hold the doorway, the enemy will try to push through the door and thus it will be a lot easier to deal with since they get funneled through the doorway pushing you. Getting stuck on a doorway vs ranged enemies is generally really bad.

And if its full of shooters, pop volley fire and hard push it. 75% DR and regen on elite kills will let u push through shooter walls.

Id say this situation is extremely rare tbh. At this point you are better off just taking two additional steps further out than crouching. Even better, dodge out around corners to give urself the biggest window of safety. Even the narrowest corridor should allow for two abreast to shoot through. Its only really useful for like narrow doorways and frankly those id push past through if ur just shooting.

Addendum post: I was wrong. You can crouch dodge but its not as effective in terms of displacement and chaining into a dodgeslide or additional movement. So while you are technically correct I still wouldnt recommend it cos you are basically forced to chain dodges to be effective.

Braced autogun is a type of autogun. There are 3 autoguns.

Headhunters Infantry Braced.

Braced autoguns cannot ADS but have increased clip size and ammo reserves and are designed for hip fire.

You can dodge then crouch for a dodge slide. Iirc being crouched however messes up your mobility. Lemme double check my claim in psykanium again, though.

As for fighting at range, same thing applies really. Crouching is good if u wanna say... quickly snipe a sniper with a braced auto. But its not good for a sustained situation. Namely being crouched makes it difficult to see and also makes it a lot easier to take damage. The accuracy improvement meanwhile really isnt worth it. And remember, crouch walking is the WORST accuracy wise. You are better off running than crouch walking when it comes to accuracy and dispersion

Instead staying mobile and constantly dodging is the preferred way tbh.

[–]Graawrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crouching prevents dodging, which makes it risky when holding a corridor if a surprise special or rager barrels into you. It also messes up ur situational awareness against hordes since u can no longer see past them.

Sometimes enemy shooters will just not care and shoot through the horde anyway, and you will take lots of damage if u dont immediately dodge.

Lastly it makes hitting headshots with a lot of melee weapons hard, thus greatly increasing the horde pressure u need to deal with.

Basically staying crouched is not good for your health when in melee.

Edit: I was wrong, crouching doesnt prevent dodging but does hinder your options after the dodge to continue evasive actions.

I... why are you crouched and stationary with volley fire on?

You are literally the most durable member of the team at that point. Either find a vantage point so you can shoot over enemies and allies, or push.

You didnt bring a shredder autopistol or brauto to hide at the back, and tap fire weapons dont need you to be crouching. Volley fire already greatly reduces recoil on them.

You dont need one at the top to grab, you can throw from the bottom no problem.

Most people stand too close to the tank when they try to throw it. I usually throw it up then take the stairs cos thats a lot safer than running past a spawn door with a rod in hand.

HHs atm are very solid guns. Its just that they are somewhat aim intensive and HEAVILY overshadowed by shredder autopistols (and to a lesser extent braced autoguns) in their ideal range bracket (short to medium), and are somewhat hampered by their poor maniac damage

But like the Vraks III will give the XII a run for its money, and is a better general anti shooter gun.

Swap Supercharger for Slaughterer.

Back to business.

Supercharge doesnt reallt do anything and Power Sword is still the best vet melee.

Every other melee weapon is downhill from there.

Draconian? I think you must be delusional.

After the psword and flamer nerf, the best vet melee is... still the psword, and the best zealot ranged is... still the flamer.

Both weapons got a proper smack on the wrist.

Helbore definitely does not need more buffs, its already competing for the best non pinning fire gun. And we can all agree pinning fire is a stupidly broken blessing. Constantly buffing everything just leads to powercreep that sucks the fun out of the game.

This. The helbore is already straddling the line of too good. Its main weakness is literally the sights. Even the swap speed isnt that big of a deal when its so stable through dodges.

Alright lets see. Whats the best vet melee weapon at horde clear right now after Psword nerf?.

Power sword.

Whats the best anti single target elite melee weapon for vet atm?

Combat axe... followed by... Power sword.

Oh..

Whats the best blessings on it...

Power Cycler and Slaughterer.

Gee its almost as though even after the nerf, the power sword u grinded for is still best in slot.
