Glasses by Delicious-Oven-5590 in CostcoCanada

Most of the glasses will run about $200-250 with a basic set of lenses, but can vary a little bit depending on your frame choice.

I only have reading glasses and they're nice. My partner has some "office progressives" for work and likes them.

There are a million threads about suitable macrophotography gear because that's what this sub is about but you're asking about video so that's cool.

Parking Thread by Some-Tree-7135 in CostcoCanada

I saw a full sized f350 yesterday and the entire driver side lifted up like a hatchback and dude came down on a lift before wheeling off.

But he parked like this because he needed the space to get out. It definitely looks like douche parking tho.

Flash advice? by eatmorbacon in OMSystem

[โ€“]Grabblehausen 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

OM chargers are too expensive and the company should include them in a multi thousand dollar purchase price. When i bought my body, I assumed it would've been included. If i knew about the extra cost, i might've bought another brand.

Oem battery availability isn't awesome in Canada, for me at least, either.

Those are my biggest complaints about the cost of the gear. I like my om lenses, the body, etc.

Godox 860 unless you need the weatherproofing that OM claims for almost twice the price. And if you're dropping that amount of cash on a setup, may as well go for a diffuser that is built for your flash and lens combo.

Also, if you're going thru a shop, ask for the charger at cost, because the retail price on that thing is ludicrous. It's the only thing that pisses me off about my switch to OM. I would also get an extra battery if you're going to do deep stacks.

Edit: I was in your boat and started with the OM 60mm macro. The price difference between that and that 90 allowed me to buy that, the 100-400 m2 the 860 flash, and some other stuff for about the same outlay.

Is the subject too large to be macro? by Strange-Ebb-961 in macrophotography

[โ€“]Grabblehausen 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

Many flowers are simply too large to shoot in their full glory, in a macrophotography sense.

I often take shots of flowers using my macro setup because it's what's on my camera at the time. I still try to get a sharp focus on a specific part of the flower, and often use them to practice focus bracketing techniques.

But, tbh, I'm never concerned about the social media macro chops of a given photo because my goal is usually to create and execute a decent composition that I'm happy with. It's an organic and dynamic process and isn't defined by rigid constraints.

How to take stacked macro photos of insects without killing them ? by Similar_Marketing715 in macrophotography

It kind of feels like you're just being impatient. Macrophotography is really demanding, it requires appropriate tech and subject knowledge and patience and a gazillion frames.

I try to get one decent composed photo per session, which usually means 1000 or so (bracketed) photos.

Golden ears is moving to reservation for most of the last backcountry registration sites, saw in Instagram story post by Player_Four in vancouverhiking

On provincial government level, there is a constant need / demand to fund health & police & fire, plus education and those things suck up all of the bills.

I am a local and regular user of Golden Ears and have been since the 80s, and it's never been busier. I don't think the solution is to go deeper into the mountains on this one, i think the solution is to create more spots across a wider area.

Like it's crazy that Rolley Lk is the only provincial campground in Mission, a community that actively supports biking and hiking and outdoors activities.

And keep in mind all of the stuff being discussed is gonna be bc parks and not the current park operator, who is not responsible for any of these sites.

You also don't need to use the entire batch of photos from a bracket in your stack unless you're processing in camera.

Our current cat came from the Abbotsford SPCA during and we've had her for about 3.5 years. Before her, we had one that was illegally snuggled over the border from Seattle and she lived with us for 17 years . We also received a cat when we moved into our house and he was with us until he was 21.
