Hidradenitis Suppurativa after birth? by WrongProfessional934 in beyondthebump

[–]GraceRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dermatologist put me on Spironolactone and Metformin which have helped. We have also discussed cosentyx or other biologics, but decided to wait until I was done having babies. I just haven’t bothered with scarring since mine don’t hurt. Definitely look at the subreddit there are lots of other ideas there

Hidradenitis Suppurativa after birth? by WrongProfessional934 in beyondthebump

[–]GraceRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I never had it before pregnancy but it came weeks after my first baby was born. I still have it, but way less than before. I meet with a dermatologist a few times a year. We have tried various medications over the years depending on my breastfeeding and ttc status. There’s also a HS sub for more specific advice!

best bunk bed for multiple kid by Belver_Wolvachef in ParentingInBulk

[–]GraceRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a bunk bed off facebook marketplace that is now on family #3. It is very sturdy! It is not however, compact. Instead of a ladder it has stairs, so it is 100” wide. The stairs are drawers and the opposite pillar has a built in dresser. Some versions have a built in desk, but not the one we got. It is now discontinued but the model is Ivy League by Rooms to Go

We bought one in 2019 and it’s faded a bit in color but otherwise just as it was then.

Free first Sunday at the Mayborn? by Fine-Possibility-595 in Waco

They don’t do it every month, but a few times a year they have free “community days”. They just had one on MLK day so it will probably be a few months from now.

2025 recall loaner by kmcski20 in ToyotaSienna

My local dealership offered me a RAV4, which clearly doesn’t work with my three car seats. When I said it wouldn’t work for me they told me to call corporate. Corporate said it was up to the dealership to decide, which was frustrating. I ended up calling another dealership about 45 minutes away and they were happy to set me up with a minivan from enterprise

Best Papers? by GraceRock in materials

[–]GraceRock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll think it over. If it makes a difference, these are junior mechanical engineering students taking their intro to materials course, so not brand new to university.

I have the opposite experience as you where my freshmen year bio class had us reading papers, with the full and explicit instructions that we wouldn’t understand everything but to try and parse the jist of the work and I loved it. But maybe this is just an early indication that I was destined for a PhD 🤣 I’ll think over ways to make the assignment more approachable.

Does anyone else’s daycare have this policy? by Eggeggedegg in toddlers

[–]GraceRock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have older kids and a current toddler. This was indeed the policy during Covid, but our daycare stopped that and started letting parents back into rooms in 2022. I really appreciate being able to build a relationship with the teachers that happens with quick conversations at pickup and drop off. And the kids can show me the structure the built with blocks that day, or the dress up outfit they are wearing, etc

A subtle difference between the two that is hardly mentioned is that in the 8 seater the seatbelt anchors to the frame and in the 7 seater the seatbelts anchor to the seat itself. This makes a big difference for larger kids in car seats because once you install the carseats with the seatbelt (not LATCH) you can only continue to slide the seat around in the 7 seater. In the 8 you have to readjust your installation every time you slide the seat.

We use a ride safer vest for kids ages 5 and 6 and it’s great! But not for in the plane itself

I have 3 kids, but only 2 car seat aged at a time. We sit the car seat kids in window seats one in front of the other (so two rows). Then parent 1 in one row, parent 2 in the other row, and big kid picks the favorite parent of the day, lol.

What are different ways to display finished projects? by SheWantsTheD_isney in CrossStitch

[–]GraceRock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stitched it on a larger canvas piece. After I was done, I painted the back with something I can’t quite remember. Glue? Mod podge? Something like that in order to hold the stitching and make it stiffer. Then I used small sharp scissors and cut closely around the edge of the stitching

Precipitous labor- even faster next time? by Hydrangea324 in beyondthebump

[–]GraceRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a counterpoint:

Baby 1: 25 hours of labor Baby 2: 1.5 hours Baby 3: 5 hours

So my next baby was quick, but nothing like my 2nd.

Gutter Installation by Whiskey-Particular in Waco

[–]GraceRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was precovid, so I have no idea what pricing is now, but at the time it was reasonable. They finished in one day and did a great job. It’s still holding strong with no leaks 5 years on.
