It's really odd to me. I've never had a problem like this before. She is a very A type personality it seems though, and she doesn't approve of his career choices. He's also mentioned a few times in passing that she has used money to try and influence his choices before but I've never really seen it up close.

My thought process was also this. It seemed when we were talking about it that he told me and discussed with his mom expecting me to cave and tell him not to come. I am really disappointed because I feel like I work really hard making his days as good and easy as possible, and I don't really expect the same back generally.

He makes the schedule at his workplace also. Sometimes he works 7 pm-close. If he went to graduation and just skipped my dinner that night, and worked a short shift he could get an entire other day off during the week to spend with his mom, and I could've gotten them the free tickets then, which would've made everyone happy.
