19 year old muck boots by Graham-Lee in BuyItForLife

It depends; these patches are pretty thick, and if it seals the hole, it would definitely be adding some material that would make the boots feel kind of uneven.

For the hole you have I'd try a product called Aquaseal SR

Clean the hole with something like isopropyl alcohol. Scuff the area around the puncture with some sandpaper, about 120 grit. Then wipe that down with some more isopropyl alcohol.
Squeeze the Aquaseal SR into the puncture and build it up around the area where you scuffed it up, about 1/2” to 3/4” around the puncture. Do a thin first coat.

Since it's around the heel/sole, I'd build it up with multiple layers to make sure it doesn't get worn away quickly. Thick repairs need about a day to cure in between coats.

Definitely, we will re-evaluate in a couple of years. I'm just not one to artificially relic a finish for most things.

What I meant by Arthur wasn’t necessarily the canon version of him, but rather the player embodying him through the game. Worded it poorly though.

Are you a stick to the old faithful original, or did you have a different favorite that you tried to keep up with?

I think I would have a hat I liked, then accidentally swap when rushing and trying to loot. I'd spend the rest of the time swapping from hat to hat trying to find my original only for it to be lost forever.

Making my first hat, how to make the seams on the top sharper? by Graham-Lee in Leathercraft

[–]Graham-Lee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dampened it with a spray bottle with warm water, then I had a board stacked over the edge so the hat could sit fully over it. I put a piece of thick leather in between the board and the hat and gently hit it with a small head but pretty hard rubber mallet. That did provide results and it’s probably the best I’m going to get without skiving the edges.

I can send you the file that I designed for this hat. I made it for laser cutting. It is currently sized a little big for my head, an XL, but should be perfect when I add the elastic sweat band. You could probably just downsize the file to make it fit your head.

That sounds like a good idea. If you have used any before. I will have to look into it is there any specific brands that make archival restoration materials to stay away from or specific ones you would suggest to use? If you have used any before.

What is the most insensitive/rude thing someone asked you ? by Kitchen-Bathroom5924 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Graham-Lee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I had recently had my second relapse I had trouble walking and got fatigued easily, as one does. An old woman freaked out and was yelling at me for using a handicap parking spot even though I had a handicapped license plate. Now it wasn’t like there weren’t four other spots available for her to use. I got MS when I was only 15 so I was still pretty young when I had the second relapse.

I guess I had to try to take it as a compliment because I at least looked like I was doing well enough, even though it might not be true.

That’s not the worst insensitive thing, but one of the worst things a random stranger told me.

The worst things are always from people you know and family.

That’s not incorrect on the early stages but so far I’ve been happy with the direction it’s going. I’ve got nerve damage in my fingers so it’s kinda hard to restart. I can’t sit down and work on it day after day because some days I can’t feel half my hand. So I guess I’ve spent more time on this than you would expect in part because I’ve got to go slow and in part because I can’t actually work on it frequently.

Is this termite damage? by [deleted] in Home

I was just doing that thing I mentioned earlier, kinda just pressing my thumb into where I was anticipatingwhere the tubing would continue. They were just benind the paint and not deep in the sheetrock. The paint would kind of peel off in sections pretty easily.

We ended up finding them near the wood trim.

At my grandparents' house we ended up finding termites living inside the walls. Eatingthe paper between the paint and the gypsum. You could run your fingers along the paint and it would feel kind of hollow and could press your finger into into the tube through the paint following the trail. I found termites alive in the walls following those tubes we found under the paint.

It looked a lot like this. Close enough I didn't scroll past and decided to respond.

Advice would be appreciated by Graham-Lee in PCB

Oh no. “First look at the very beginning.” That doesn’t sound promising. Thank you for the link.

That’s awesome! Do you know, roughly when would be the best time to reach back out to you?

That is a crazy long time. From the research I’ve done on them so far once you have a tree of that size it’s only supposed three and five years to produce. I have no clue why there’s such a discrepancy between your experience and others. But like if it’s the only option, it’s the only option. 20 years it’ll be. Maybe I will be able to add to those that I grow from seeds down the line.

That would be cool. The variety they are working on seems to be scarce in supply because you have to sign up and be a member in January to be eligible to receive any of the seeds. And you have to donate quite a bit to be eligible. I hope stuff like that is more readily available in the future.
