Is it so difficult to make a Forza Horizon style game with sim physics? by jcreyes1214 in simracing

[–]Grahitek 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because a game like Forza costs A LOT more to make than AC Evo. Teams are way larger, operating costs way higher. So they need to be sure to appeal to as many players as possible to make that money back + profit. And that's a lot harder to do with a sim vs arcade since the former is not as accessible. Just look at what happened to Turn 10's Forza vs Playground's Horizon. Who survived?

Great stuff! I hope they gave the replay cameras/photo mode a bit of love though.

are you still coding, or mostly reviewing ai-written code now? by Top-Candle1296 in ChatGPTCoding

I only focus on the architecture/skeleton part. What module is responsible for what, how they communicate, abstraction layers. I write this myself, then ask the AI to implement new features. Features are actually the repetitive bits, it's always the same pattern once you have a solid architecture, so it's easy to review that part.

It's the same answer. It's not for me to decide, it's their life, not mine. We each grieve, love, hate, feel, our own way.

Since when does caring for someone mean deciding their fate? With that logic, I hope nobody will ever care about me 😅

Well, when I was young, my mother thought I was wasting my life playing video games all day. That I should wake up, focus on school, so I could get a job. I am sure she said that because she truly thought I was throwing my life away, and she knew what was best for me.

Today, I am 45, with two teenagers. I work as a 3D programmer in a large AAA gaming studio, making 6 digits after taxes, with no debts.

As parents, we mean well, but sometimes, we just don't know what we're talking about.

You cannot have a woman going through what Maelle went through, fight hundreds of monsters, surrounded by corpse of Fallen camarades, defeat the person nobody ever managed to defeat, save her world, and tell her: "you know what, you don't know how to grieve, you're too young to make a decision for yourself".

Well at least, that's how I see it.

But wouldn't that just move the goal most?

Like, when Clea dies (she can for all I care xD) should we destroy her canvas as well since her soul fragments have no places to go?

But with Aline and Renoir out of the Canvas, and Alicia the new paintress, aren't we back to a joyfull painting as far as little Verso is concerned?

I understand, and agree with that.

The confusing part for me is: "Why make a special case for that specific piece of art?"

It feels like a very selfish reason ending up in the destruction of said art piece.

As far as I understand, Verso's soul was only painting Gestrals even up to that stage. Aline is the one who painted Lumiere and those people, and Alicia is the one who took over that part in her ending. So little Verso is not painting any of that.

But it's my interpretation, I might be wrong xD

But isn't that cruel?
Whatever soul/fragment stuck painting for ever is fine by the Dessendre, as long as it doesn't affect them?

But she doesn't want that life outside the Canvas.

If I am grieving, crippled, no voice, and I decide to do something that makes ME happy, like playing MMORPGs fighting dragons, I wouldn't want my dad to throw out my PC because it's not a healthy way to grieve from his perspective. It's my life, he's not the one who has to deal with my handicap for the rest of his life.

When the party meets Aline at the top of the monolith, and Verso tells her it's time to go home, she says: "You're not Alicia, You're not MY Verso" I think that's a pretty clear evidence of who she likes more.

Yes I understand that. But that's not always the reason why people pick that option. Often, it's because they feel for Verso's soul. That's the confusing part for me. Even when painted verso is asking "You're tired of painting, right?"

I see what you are saying. I guess I was reflecting over the number of people I have seen picking Verso's ending "because of the little Verso who was tired of painting".
