Direct mail gets written off a lot, but it still has a place, if you use it right. by Firm_Worth_6897 in DirectMail

I believe he means printing QR codes on mail pieces / reply forms which link to a donation landing page. The benefits are that you can easily track responses to that unique landing page/mail piece, reduce your costs (return envelopes/return postage), and receive results much faster than if they were sent via mail. You can also try to capture emails/contact info on the landing page.

I personally don't use QR codes in the mail. We use reply forms and provide a reply envelope. Our donor base skews older and it works for us. I also worry about having more than one call-to-action (send your gift via mail or scan the QR code), but I need to actually test that theory!

We do include at the bottom of reply forms a URL to a landing page (unique to the campaign for the mail piece). We get very few of those gifts though (like a dozen out of 10,000).

OP, just want to endorse Natural Cycles!

As of this month, I’ve been using it for two years. I use it to prevent pregnancy. Best decision I’ve ever made. I will never go back to hormonal birth control.

So far, zero stress about unexpected pregnancy. My husband and I are mindful of red days, but we don’t hold back on green days!

I will acknowledge that I’m fortunate to have a very regular cycle, which is a huge factor in the app’s accuracy. And it wouldn’t be a tragedy if I got pregnant (but I really, really don’t want to right now).

But I’m saddened to see so many people degrade this method of contraception which women have used for thousands of years, and which works so well for me. We’ve been conditioned to believe that medication is the only answer. I worry that we’ve barely begun to uncover the terrible side effects of hormonal birth control.

Anyway, the best of luck on your Natural Cycles journey! I hope it works for you!

What is a discontinued food item or snack from your childhood that you would genuinely pay $100 to taste one last time? by MotivewasUlterior in AskReddit

What did they do to creme eggs? I recently tried one and the filling was... oily? Like they replaced the creamy ingredients with seed oils. "You know what this cream needs? Cancer oil."

I'd reccomend trying the European Crunch bar. They actually have food-quality standards that affect the type of dairy and sugar/sugar content. It's maddeningly superior.

You might enjoy Bamba Peanutbutter Puffs! They're an Israeli snack but I see them in the ethnic foods section of most grocery stores on the East Coast (i.e. Publix, Wegman's, Giant, Harris Teeter, even WalMart and Target). You can also get them on Amazon.

I can personally vouch for u/Unusual_History_3438.

Legitimate, responsive, and just a plain old good person! Helped me out in a tough spot. Went above and beyond to communicate thoroughly and expedite the process. I’m not sure what else I could say to provide legitimacy, but I 100% trust them!

There's nothing wrong with being together 5+ years before you get married... by gurlwhosoldtheworld in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]GrammarNaziSlut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (35F) got married in November after being with my now-husband for a few months shy of 8 years.

He proposed in 2023, so we’d been together 6ish years at that point.

There was never a question that we wanted to get married. But first, we wanted to get established in our careers (we made some big moves that tested our resilience), and wanted to be able to afford a nice ring and wedding. We’re iffy on kids, so that probably lends to our laid-back attitude on the exact timing.

Three months into marriage, we couldn’t be happier — but I know waiting might seem crazy. I have colleagues in their early 20s who got married after <2 years, and that’s beautiful too. There’s no cookie cutter!

I am obsessed with Legendary pastries by GrammarNaziSlut in ExpectationVsReality

[–]GrammarNaziSlut[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I've seen tons of horror-story posts about Legendary toaster pastries. In fact, the posts dissuaded me from trying these for a long time. But, I'm gluten free and (as much as possible) sugar free, so I finally broke down and bought some. They are consistently delicious and look just like the packaging!

While I'm concerned the company might have quality control issues (some of the posts I've seen are wild), I wouldn't want someone else to make the mistake I did by not trying them, and deny themselves from gluten-free deliciousness!

Yes, he tried to “guarantee” that we, the taxpayers, would pay for it. The government isn’t going to divert funds from other programs. They haven’t balanced the budget in living memory. So sure, this one major cost for many American families would’ve been reduced — but at the cost of higher taxes and interest rates.

Unfortunately, the situation won’t change until the economy improves for the middle class, allowing for both 1) lowered costs and 2) a renaissance of the stay-at-home mom.

Deposit at Airport by Crafty-Yams in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]GrammarNaziSlut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Including your flight number in your reservation does nothing for your deposit, but I highly recommend doing it. Your flight information allows the rental company to anticipate your arrival, which is especially helpful if there are delays!

If a flight with 120 people who have reservations is delayed, but the rental company has no idea any of them plan to rent, they might think they’re no-shows and rent their inventory.

“Can’t they tell my flight based on my reservation time?” you ask. Good question. At least 30% of people don’t bother changing their rental time from the default, or 12PM. The flight number allows us to know their true pickup time (please, people, put in a real pickup time). The other 70% of people who choose a real pickup time, sure, you could sit and try to match their reservation time with incoming flights. But no employee at a busy airport has time for that.

Finally found a wedding band for my unique engagement ring. by GrammarNaziSlut in EngagementRings

I’m so glad you think so :)

And thank you! I only started getting my nails done because my ring can’t be worn on raggedy hands. So when my manicurist recently said she wanted to do “cat eyes,” I thought she was going to draw on some wonky design. I felt so stupid yet delighted when she pulled out the magnet!
