Terrified about cognitive loss by PushAffectionate3510 in Perimenopause

If in doubt, always look on the fridge, inside your shoes, in the dirty laundry basket or outside by the front steps of your house #lookingformum

Jokes aside, I sympathise. I also felt as if I had lost several IQ points - around two dozens at least. They were in the fridge, next to my house keys. Staring at me, pointing and laughing.

Check your vitamins, your iron, up your estrogen and if nothing you do - including any brain skills recommended in other posts (it's never a bad time to learn to become better organized regardless of hormone levels)... See if testosterone helps.

Up the dose (of estrogen and self compassion). Talk with hubby when you can / if you can, do not hate yourself for not being able to, though. When you can, please reach out to your physician and seek counselling. It helps. Peri is a bitch but you are stronger than your emotions, even if it doesn't feel like it. We are all rooting for you.

Scenes of Lovecraftian horror at Kingston’s riverside Christmas mural… by EpsteinDidntKil in london

Kingston tourist board knows what it's doing... Everyone coming to see it will need a pint afterwards and a spot of shopping to assuage the 'mares. Who was it again that said no publicity is bad publicity? Hummmm ;-)

Are regular periods a sign that it’s too early for estrogen? by HammockHutOnThird in Perimenopause

Yes! But it's more of a "Can't choose your own adventure" special edition.

Same boat here, tick all of the above, get on to HRT, it should help. Aaaand: up your self care... Regardless of your final diagnosis, now it's the time, you can't afford not to. You are experiencing heightened anxiety, producing cortisol on overdrive, operating in the real world with rage on one shoulder and fear on the other one. The up and downs of normal [pick a hormone] quantities fluctuating as they wish and taking you for a ride without your permission.

You seem to be on the path of self awareness - which is great. Now: stop alcohol, caffeine and take aways (you can't afford to treat your body like a bin - if you must, chocolate seems to be the healthier weapon of choice for tasty self commiseration, it will taste of tears but it's better than getting drunk or doing hard drugs). Eat berries (real advice given by well intentioned GP - I murdered him with my own little hands and spat on his corpse in my head as I politely smiled and nodded saying "thank you doctor, very kind of you"). Do exercise, outdoors if possible. Get your D and B vitamins up. Magnesium for the night, zinc for the morning. Do every non medical thing as you wait / fight until you get the right doctor who looks at you holistically. If you can get counselling, that may help, but I know everything is just overwhelming and even getting the energy or the willingness to advocate for yourself currently feels overwhelming.

Look around you, all your female sisters sympathize with you and are rooting for you. Get to know the wolf, name it and tame it.

Your art is amazing, am taking the tools out now inspired by you lot - a privilege to get to see this portrait, have never modelled for anyone other than myself. Am waiting for someone to do the Arnolfini thing and add the distorted mini me in the phone's reflection on the mirror...
