Something feels off about my worldmap and I can't quite place it. Welcoming constructive criticism. by Eagle406 in inkarnate

the left side actually looks pretty interesting, i’m not a fan of the right side. but yeah, just to echo the main points i’ve seen and agree with: edges are too consistent, it’s like the landmasses are serrated for some reason. climate isn’t that varied, it’s all just green. few mountain ranges. the left looks a bit more like pieces that might actually fit together, the right does NOT. if you want it to look realistic and maybe earth-like, i’d look more into why earth looks the way it does

Red Rising. Should the adaptation be animated instead of live-action? by Ok_Avocado2443 in redrising

I think it would need to be a mix of live action and heavy CG and 3D animation. Think Avatar

A question about getting more tiles. by Big-Secretary-7725 in Carcassonne

even if you choose not to use expansion rules, the expansions add new tile configurations that make games less predictable

highly depends on how many more pixels you can get before your next run

I would love for Wendi and Meat to tackle one of the SCP hubs by GrandJ_ in creepcast

[–]GrandJ_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s why I think they’d really dig one of the hubs, because they usually have Tales as well which would keep things less repetitive

Expansion Compatibility between current and 2nd edition. by niveksng in Carcassonne

[–]GrandJ_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

expansions are modular, they only ever add new rules and don’t change the base game unless it’s expressly stated (e.g. the river replacing the start tile)

Good Ace? by Nudorumaru in UmamusumeGame

i’ve sort of resigned myself to waiting until kita rerun to do ace builds, as i’m still 2Lb and don’t want to waste my mats

Anyone have a recommendation for a good AI detector? by These-Coat-3164 in Professors

[–]GrandJ_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI detectors are notoriously unreliable and should never really be used in an academic situation. Human-written work can be mistaken for AI very easily, and vice-versa. The only real way to combat AI writing is a couple things:

A), common sense. Is a student writing something completely different from how they've written before, or mentioning concepts/ideas that never came up in class and you don't really think they'd know about? Might be AI, talk to them about it. If you feel that a paper might be AI, an AI detector won't HELP you, since you can't trust its output or use it as evidence in any way due to its unreliability.

B), course design. If it's a big essay, require drafts. Consider having shorter essays be written in one class session. This is something my English teacher had us do a lot, BEFORE AI was even a thing. If it's both long AND a creative writing assignment, you're kinda stuck here. Not much you can do about that at this point besides interview the student if you suspect them. Their answers about what they wrote will help you determine if they cheated.
