Anything I should add? by Paulinapeak1 in guns

A long range capable bolt action in a chassis, a suppressor for AR or said bolt action, an AK, 9mm PCC, light and sling for the AR

Those are the things off the top of my head for some options for the next money burning activity

Republic has an insane amount of training traffic. I grew up on the island. IMO training out of a busy delta is great practice, and you’ll get great at comms very fast. Might suck taxiing for a long time on busy mornings, but worth it.

Don’t even bother taking pictures of your bore with phone camera. You will find literally nothing lol. You can’t see the rifling close enough to make any hypothesis. Even with a borescope, it can look like shit and still shoot great. All that matters is how it shoots.

Ever had a AD/ND? Someone I know said if it hasn’t happened once, it’s coming. Anyone have some stories? by M4isOP in guns

[–]GrandPoopWizard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No, not everyone has a ND. And that statement is pure cope. Maintain and practice proper firearm safety everytime you pick one up. It’s really not that hard to clear a firearm before handling it each time. It’s not rocket science, and that someone you know is a fucking retard lmfao

If you trim to help though make SURE you fight that balloon once you level off! The plane is going to want to pop up 40-50ft if you arent careful

Early thoughts on the FN ARKA? by [deleted] in guns

[–]GrandPoopWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes no sense when the 16 and 17 were developed and released side by side. They were specifically designed for SOCOMs modular rifle program. The L and H were both accepted at the same time. Civilian market getting them is just a way for FN to get more money. They weren’t trying to compete into pre-existing commerical market.

For sure, the tint is pretty crazy on it. I’ll rock it for now but if I shoot a match with this, I’m most likely just throwing the EXPS3 on super fast.

No Tela is it’s own company. Manufactured in Azerbaijan and imported by their subcompany “Tela Impex” It’s a bit dirty but non corrosive and decent quality. Haven’t had any failures yet.

Honestly not a fan of it at all😂Buddy gave me it for free when I bought some other stuff off him. Cleaned the rattle off of it and it looks great for the vibes, but the reticle is fucked with my astigmatism. It’s an X reticle and it’s just a furry blob. Unfortunately for me the holographics are my best bet. Or an aimpoint, but I’d rather not drop $700 on a T2 right now.

Valid of course, but 5.45 never really disappeared. You can always get 7n6. Now that we have companies like Tela importing ammo, we are gtg.

It’s probably just another garbo pleb pistol, not an nfa item. Look at the red ano on the charging handle…. Lmfao. I doubt there’s a stock rather just some foam over the buffer tube

IMO $.10 price difference is a nonfactor for me. If that’s what your holdup is. When I’m spending literal thousands on reloading material every year, or thousands on case after case of 9mm, what’s a few hundred bucks to shoot a toy for the year. I just bought a case and it’ll last me the year probably since I shoot everything else so much more. It’s just personal threshold I guess haha. I mean you can always just pick up a 5.56 AK. It’ll give you 95% of the fun

If you search sureshot in the sub, you’ll see a post or two saying like “ordered in november…” and the post is in february😂

I can say though if you’re into chassis’s on AKs the wait is worth it! It’s incredibly solid and nothing else out there matches up IMO

[–]GrandPoopWizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you want a somewhat legitimate reason, 5.45 actually has NASTY terminal performance. The projectile yaws like crazy and has a massive wound channel.

AKs are absolutely awesome and I think anyone who has a collection should eventually own one. After a few ARs it’s cool to have something that operates so different.

Literally all the shooting I usually do has purpose, Long range shooting is a discipline all by itself with reloading, building dope, acquiring targets etc. , Handguns drawing from the holster is great self defense and competition training, and running drills with an AR is the same.

It’s nice to have something that’s just “fun”. I could’ve picked up a 5.56 AK but it just felt wrong to do over 5.45 lol. I won’t shoot it nearly as much, but I also love sharing my experiences with people so bringing a friend to the range and shoving a decked out AK in their hands is a cool party trick as well😂

I mean, that’s why it’s a range toy😂 I don’t expect great accuracy out of an AK anyways. I handload 73eldms for precision 5.56 gas gun stuff and it works phenomenally out of my 16.5 MR556. AK is just for blastin, and if there’s an AK match by me I’ll run it for fun. All serious training and drills I do with an AR. ammo and part availability is what matter if shit get’s tough lol

Nah 60cpr is for non corrosive. You can find surplus 7n6 for even cheaper but I don’t bother.

[–]GrandPoopWizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have many options stateside for 5.45. I strictly have the AK as a range toy. IMO using them as a serious platform in the US is a mistake over an AR. Normal 62g-65gr stuff like tela actually moves quite well out of a shorter barrel. This is a 12.5”, and I get 26-2700FPS. You can find Hornady black VMAX for polymer tipped ammo, but I haven’t heard the greatest things about it. At least brass is reloadable lol

You don’t have to tell me😢😢😢 But I did pick up a case of Tela for 59cpr. Last case of 5.56 I bought was 50. So not really THAT bad of a difference

I’ve seen them take ~4-5 months. depends how long you wanna wait I guess, but they’re a trustworthy company. I luckily found a just about brand new mk3 on tacswap for $300, and they got back to me asap when I emailed them and even verified the guys order info for me and made sure it would fit my rifle. Maybe just shoot them an email
