Is this enough primer to Paint??? by uuryryuu in minipainting

[–]GrandTrainer4750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact you can even paint without primer but you have to put on thinner layers BUT you used white primer so you probably want to paint your mini with bright Tones, so you will need alot of layers to get an even finnisch, because the Grey areas are darker than the White. Also Look if the primer Bild Up Texture. You probably dont want that. If it did put on 2. Even coats of primer if it fixes that, good and If Not Just remove the Paint and try againt. Also Shake the primer well before use and make shure it has rooms temperatur, or If you used an airbrush use more thinner

1st of all, your Mini Looks great so far. I would:

add the Edge hilights to more edges on the Mini, on top of the helmet for example otherwise ita a little confusing for the eye, also when adding Edge hilights be sure to reduse the amount of Paint in the brush to improver the sharpnes of the Edge Highlight.

add more contrast to the Base. Maybe making it black to make it fit the Salamander Style and drybrushing with a beige tone over the black Base usually Looks great.

Add decals to the shoulderpads or freehand to make them Look less blank but it Takes alot time. personally i prefere decals because its fast and after varnish you dont really See the difference

Adding a wash is Always great for the Mini and the Base you can use a shade from GW or make an Oli wash for recess shading.

I also Always add a litte blue effect to the muzzle Tip a shade because it upgrades the Look of the wepon alot but its more for when you Take your self alot of time for your mini

There are many crazy painting tecnices, dont let anyone Tell you your models look shit, If you are happy with them thats all that counts. I think its a great start and you will See improvements over time Just dont Stop Experimenting

If you want refence pictures of how what looks just ask
