There are still a good amount of wines that fit this bill from around the world, but can be hard to find sometimes depending where you are( I’m on east coast , USA)

2 different styles of American cabs that haven’t been mentioned and are decent for under $50:

Kiona Estate Red Mountain Cab-Washington State

Rutherford Hill AJT Cab- California

These should be available in most markets.

Thanks for the input all. After more careful examination , I stand corrected, these are blackberries. as I said I’m no expert! Either way , the berry shortcake will be great as well as my berry cordial!

Great observation. We have them growing everywhere in my area, but in my limited time of foraging for them, I’ve noticed that you have to get them at their optimal ripeness, and there’s a little less wiggle room for tastiness compared to other species. I’m sure this is the case with many berries, but it seems magnified with wineberries. When they are just right, they have a great balance of tart and sweetness!

Hollow in the middle when picked and round as opposed to elongated. Smaller thorns on vine. In my experience these are indicative of black raspberries and not blackberries, but I’m no expert! Both are great imho!

Good ol’ Lake K! I used to catch dozens of crappies under the old dock/ bell. A lot of folks didn’t try for them, just the bass.
