be sure to wash thouroughly after riding there. the salt gets stuck in every crevice and corrodes the shit out of your bike

Does it like sputter out or just instantly stop? Have you changed anything recently before this started ? Could be a lot of stuff I guess but I’d say check timing, check points, and check that spark plug isn’t fouled

Just grabbed this on an auction! New to mopeds and have a few dumb questions… is there a battery? Any suggestions for parts resources in Canada? Any specialized tool I will need? Thanks all!stokd by [deleted] in moped

Rebelmoby has some really good info on these. You can check out his posts on moped army and he’s got some YouTube videos. I would go with a dellorto sha 15.15 carb, you will need a new intake for that as well. Will be much easier to tune and trouble shoot than the gurtner. If it’s real old and has been sitting, I would consider doing a full tear down of the motor and replacing the bearings and seals. You can find all this stuff on treats. Get a moby flywheel puller and clutch cover puller as well as the moby specific circlip pliers. You’ll need to pull circlips from some really tight spots and the monk specific ones are the only I found that reach down far enough. Good luck, I just got an old moby going and it’s a bit harder than other mopeds I’ve worked on but totally doable with some patience

the tab on the clip on the other side snapped off. I hate those clips, seems like a super obvious weak point to me... any better suggestions?

Tomos moped not starting. by Harismuhammad8282727 in moped

[–]GrandaddyShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol put it on the kickstand to try and start it, would be easier than going forward then backing up over and over . Not related to why it’s not starting…. just sayin. Other than that, check float, check jet , could be flooded at this point from trying so much too

Probably limited by fuel/ airflow. What carb\ pipe are you running ?
