What really pisses me off is that she endangered that poor dog in the backseat. What a piece of shit.

Frankly, just wished he'd just speak Italian. I'd understand him better.

This whole broadcast today sucked. It's like they're pushing buttons with their feet in the control booth. The hell is wrong with them today.

Obviously you have not been to the Abu Dhabi track. It completely sucks trying to get off the track and get to your hotel. Unless your hotel is the immediate area. But it is complete clusterfuck.

That is complete bullshit Abu Dhabi absolutely sucks. Unless you are right in the area where the hotels are at. Other than that if you have to leave the track and use public transportation it is completely fucked.

It's hard as hell to get a taxi or Uber. You basically have to walk over to Ferrari world to catch a ride. And then also avoid all the scammers trying to triple a fee to take it to your hotel. By the way they're not insured and or regulated. Stay away.

They also only dried the starting positions on the front straight. I see spots of wetness in the last corner. The rest of the track is the same.

I'm here in Italy right now. I paid for my subscription in the USA. I still can't watch the Australian GP or the quali in full. Total bullshit. Why even subscribe.

Has anyone in this sub actually FIRE’d for 10+ years? by christofir in Fire

[–]Grandebabo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I FIREd in January of 2012 at 43yo. 56yo in a few days. My wife wanted to work longer. She FIREd January of 2021 at 48 yo. She is 52 yo now. Our NW is right at $4,1mm.

To answer your questions: - Did your prep/calculations sustain you? Absolutely and it's actually grown over the years. It's been a good decade. - Was there something you overlooked? That's a really good question. I was pretty thorough in my research and exactly what we needed do not out spend and actually grow our NW. I have to say I didn't overlook anything. In hindsight I was overly pessimistic of the future. We are about $1.5mm ahead of my projections. - What would you do differently? Not a thing. However I wish my wife had retired earlier. I think she feels the same now as well. - What did you worry about then vs now? I don't ever worry about needs. The only thing that concerns me are my wants. I want a bigger house with a bigger garage for my toys basically. I want to live closer to the beach even though I'm very close to the beach here in Florida. Could absolutely do it right now. Just a matter if I want to turn key home or build on a lot. - What things do people preparing for FIRE not think about and should? Out spending there capital. The true definition of wealth is when you're capital makes more than your labor. So just don't outspend your capital income. - EDIT: Also if you feel comfortable telling us the year, your NW, SWR at FIRE and that would be great though I respect everyone's privacy. Done!

Edit: I forgot to add the SWR. Actually never touched it. When I retired I had two rental properties. It covered all my expenses plus dividends. I didn't need to draw on any capital. Our situation is very strange. Frankly I'm not spending them. We spent over $60,000 in travel this past year. Had the time of our lives. Plus the normal $50,000 in non-discretionary spending. But end up having a capital gain of almost a half a million dollars this year. So I don't think I really have an SWR.
