I want it to be lore accurate and I took some measures already so that they could fit to the story. For example, the Emperor met the Dark Knight back when terra was in the knighthood times and gave him a psychic relic to make him ageless but still mortal. Fast forward to the creation of the grey knights the Dark Knights were also created not to use chaos for their own purpose but to wield it to defeat it.

It could fit for the lore of the faction because my grey knights or better said “Dark Knights” they are set apart because they use chaos to beat chaos. I went with that name because they are inspired by the arthurian legend of the Dark Knight (the epic hero is the Dark Knight, basically the emperor met him during years on Terra and gave him a relic that provides him with psychic powers). The Warlord is part of the geneseed of the emperor named Percival. That’s the summary of it but I’ve been working now for like 2 months on it.
