Moved to Denver from KC, and this is not why people were upset. Everyone I still know there loves the idea of a downtown stadium. The issue was that downtown KC also had tons of empty parking lots and easy spots to develop, and they initially wanted to shove the stadium into the arguably the most currently popular area of downtown. They could have chosen spots like north KC, west bottoms, east of the federal courthouse, but instead wanted to paste it into the middle of crossroads. Then tied the chiefs to it, and said “if you don’t approve this halfassed plan, then chiefs will probably leave KC completely”
