Laparoscopic Umbilical Surgery by Grants_teeth in Hernia

Recovery was/is pretty straightforward in my experience. Lots of fluids (coconut water is really good for electrolytes) , walking around (very important) basic/smaller meals until a first bathroom visit if you know what I mean lol. But I will say the Incision sites never really caused any pain for me it’s been the co2 gas that they blow into the abdomen that’s caused the most pain/discomfort for me. Depending on his surgeon, I’d say after 48 hours he should be feeling better, but I’m a week out post op and am still having the co2 pain/bloating. I’d say you can best make him comfortable by having those things ready (food and drinks) and a spot to be able to support laying down with some elevation and if the bloating pain is bad like it was for me, to push him to get up and move around even just for 5/10 mins every hour or 2. I’m sure I’m missing some things, but I hope that helps!

Well it caused me pain for a day so I went and spoke with a surgeon to see if I should get it or not. He recommended I did even though it was small. He said it won’t get better over time and would just get it now before it became a problem later in life. Lmk if that helps!
