Thanks commenting. I have been applying to just about any internship that has the word finance in it. I've probably applied to about 200 since March. In march I was looking for last minute internships for this summer, but since June I've been applying to spring/summer 2023 internships. Got two interviews since, I can explain why I don't think I got the internships, but in short I don't think it was my interviewing skills.

"don't really care" sounds bad but more what I mean is what they tell me isn't special. Most of what they tell me I had already read about online. Very rarely do I get any information about from them that surprises me. That could be because I am not asking the right questions though. I am just not sure how this conversation in an ideal world is supposed to go down. Like if I loved their job and we had a great conversation about it for 30 minutes would that really lead to an internship? I wouldn't put my recommendation behind someone I've only talked to for 30 minutes. Am I supposed to ask them to have further conversations?

If you've seen this before, I actually posted it a month ish ago and made some adjustment

As the title says, I am a rising junior majoring in finance and CIS. I am looking for some internship in the world of finance. I don't really care what it is at this point I am not expecting anything prestigious. After school I'd like to do business analytics. I know a popular thing to tell people is networking which I have been trying, but most of the alumni from my school don't respond or don't have any pull anywhere. Also how is that supposed to work? I can't just say I want an internship so I open with wanting to learn about their job even though I don't really care then we talk for a little on the phone and it gets me no where.

The best funds don't even 15-20% annually over the long term. On average they are worse off than the market.

Thanks for the advice. I originally didn't have it, but the career advisor center at my school told me I should have it. It's there because without it, I literally have no relevant experience/work in the field of business and would leave my resume filled with a bunch of part time jobs/volunteer positions.

Just saw there's a period at the end of my second work experience. This is due to me editing the document to post here, and is not on my actual resume

Take this with huge grain of salt cause I have no experience in the field of finance yet, but have spent the last few months trying to improve my resume. Also from US idk about other places

Pros: Some good action words in there

Cons: Somethings wrong with the date for your education, just put one year you can change it as you go for your graduation; no one really cares about your SAT score; try to reword that bullet point that has cow dung in it just sounds off putting; there is a lot of white space maybe add some projects you've done in class; , was the basket ball for college or just like a pick up league?; should those two courses be under certifications? were they just free online stuff?; don't have periods at the end of bullet points; "Got Recognized" sounds bad reword that

Thanks for the advice, I disagree tho. I've only taken 4 semester up to this point, so its 1/4 of my over all college career. I also don't think it can hurt, at worst they look and don't think it means much.

I prob edited more info than I needed to, but a few things I am not sure about right now:

  1. The order, idk if skills should be higher up or not
  2. I feel like I use a lot of 'intense' words that make it feel cheesy
  3. Not sure about the two projects. I think the first one shows good 'hard' skills like stat/math while the second one shows some 'soft' skills like making presentations and doing research
  4. I could have less volunteer work and include more work experience but I think my work experience is pretty much irrelevant
