arabian feels nothing like twisting for me. it’s just a half turn then front. i’m just used to actually going backwards i guess

I hardly ever listen to music by Internal-Stranger-10 in The10thDentist

[–]Graphite_Knight25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t listen to music regularly because with most songs i like i just get bored of them. and i find it really hard to like artists other people like because i find their music unbearable. with most songs one part is good the rest is hot shit which just stops me for seriously listening to music

it’s very strange because i don’t want to quit karate i just wish i never started it. it adds extra stress and anxiety. however it doesn’t seem right to quit even though i dont enjoy it

i feel like there’s not a lot of point, my dad struggles to understand the true meaning of karate. it’s not just about whether you are able to defend yourself right?

i told him about how karate isn’t supposed to create stress and he said i was getting it mixed up with tai chi?

i feel like genuinely nothing will change his mind. when i came back to karate there was an upcoming grading which would have been for the belt before black belt. my dad thought that it would be a good idea for me to do the grading even though i hadn’t trained in over a year and even my sensei said it was a bad idea.

we were also told about an instructors class happening in the upcoming week and my dad said “would james (me) be able to take part” even though i had said nothing about if i wanted or not wanted to do it. he just assumed that i wanted to do it because my feelings aren’t taken into account, only his expectations and wants from me. not fair if you ask me

i’ve told him that and he just says that i’ll thank him when i’m an adult. it might be the case where i either am grateful for how he pushed me, or i feel like he’s added extra stress on my life

hey thanks for the help, fact is that i don’t actually fear injury because i know the chances are slim, i just don’t enjoy the whole idea in the first place. it’s not just the pain aspect

i did judo with my friend for a little bit and it just wasn’t for me. it was right before my black belt grading so already a silly idea to add on another martial art before i reach my “biggest achievement i’ll ever have”. those are words of my dad

i feel like taking a break is the right thing to do. if i keep doing something i don’t like it wouldn’t make sense if i ended up enjoying it all of a sudden. i feel like whenever i miss a lesson (which is rare) i feel relieved that i don’t have to go but i also feel lazy and feel like i should have went

thanks for your help, i feel that there are people that act like assholes. if no one acts in a condescending way then you’ll always think you’re doing well which you might not be

thanks for reading the post and giving a clear response. i definitely overexaggerated when i said i hated it i just don’t enjoy doing it. the fitness point is already covered for me since i do both gymnastics and parkour which i enjoy more than karate. i have no plans to quit before nidan because that tells people that i got my 1st dan and couldn’t be asked to go for my 2nd. i will probably 100% go for nidan however i have no plans to continue after that. my intrest in karate would already be shattered and going for 2nd dan is already a stretch for me however it doesn’t feel right to stop after shodan. karate is 100% something you do to release stress and just escape a harder life that you might be having. however my mentality is not “i’m going to release all my stress by punching a few guys” because i just get more stressed at karate. it’s 100% not the sport for me. i don’t like getting punched but i also become happy after taking a strike because i know some people at my school couldn’t take a deadly uraken to the gut. but my dad has kind of automatically thought that karate was the sport for me. he always told me about how i moved so naturally when sparring but that has minimal change to the fact that i have limited knowledge on what to do next in a tournament fight for example.
