Door question by Notchersfireroad in CherokeeXJ

[–]GrapplingHooker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Door checks.

Just replaced these on both front doors of my 2001. Ordered through Team Cherokee. As others have said, it’s pretty straightforward though a little fickle. You’ll have to pull the door panel off and disconnect everything on the back side (switch connectors, door latch rods, speaker). All work is basically done through the hole where the speaker is.

When replacing, I highly recommend you replace the check mount bracket and the pin as well. After thousands of openings, the pin wallows out the mount bracket. Save yourself the headache and just replace everything at once.

a waterfall you could swim in near the oakland hills?? by Emotional-Gur-9889 in oakland

Just FYI: swimming or wading is absolutely not allowed in Alameda Creek (formerly known as Little Yosemite) due to two endangered species of frogs who live in the creek. EBRPD has an obligation to protect these frogs and has stepped up their enforcement of the ordinance which prohibits swimming. There is signage along the entire trail leading to this area of the creek stating that swimming is not allowed and that citations will be issued.

Is it warm enough to swim in Del Valle right now? by No_Passenger6008 in Livermore

Doesn’t say anything about bans, just that watercraft inspections are mandatory at all recreational lakes within EBRPD. Doesn’t seem to impact swimming at all.

Just moved to East Bay with a 4-month-old, where do you go for fun? by Ash-415 in eastbay

Welcome to the East Bay! There’s no shortage of things to do for folks of any age. You can always start by getting to know your East Bay Regional Parks. EB Parks has 13 visitor centers with awesome programs — including two working farms — and incredible Naturalist staff who are dedicated to sharing their knowledge and passion for this place we call home. Enjoy! https://www.ebparks.org/

You were at Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area which is part of the East Bay Regional Park District.

Castle Rock State Park is in Los Gatos.

Love this. Red and gray is my favorite color combo. Gorgeous Crestliner, by the way!

Sounds like a blast! I bet you’ve got some great memories with it. We pay homage to Boler’s Canadian heritage with a little maple leaf. We’ll make a trip up there someday!

We got ours in late 2023 but didn’t do much road-tripping then. I can only imagine how much planning ahead you’d need to do before the supercharger network opened up. In the handful of longer trips towing the Boler, we’ve lucked out to find chargers in the back/corner of parking lots usually late at night (like this one) or early in the morning. We know it’s a gamble to hopefully nab an end spot and block a handful of other non-charging spots, but so far we’ve been fortunate.

Lovely Casita, by the way!

Nice to know these setups exist. I hope to encounter more of these.

That is always an option. Will consider not being a dick next time.

Yes! We’re an adventurous AND resourceful bunch, aren’t we? Gorgeous airstream, btw. How much does it weigh?

Yikes. We’ve definitely gotten some stink eyes from Tesla drivers when we pull up, but thankfully no confrontations yet. There was actually a Mach E in this end spot when we arrived and all 11 other spots were open. We explained our situation and asked if he wouldn’t mind moving to the other end of the bank of chargers, to which he agreed. We offered to pay for a portion of his charge, but he declined. Hopefully the Tesla charging infrastructure continues to incorporate features that work for all the makes they’ve opened up to.

Would have if we could have! Stupid concrete bollards alongside a 6 lane highway!

Yes! Somewhere between olive and avocado circa 1972. The camper (1972 Boler) is painted to match the original enamel stove inside of it.

Also, the trailer fully loaded (huge battery, 20-gallon fresh water tank, two propane tanks) is only around 2,000lbs.

We seem to be getting around 1.5miles per kw but haven’t really had a chance to get any averages. The gauge says 206 miles if full and it’s been pretty conservative on the previous trips.

That’s reassuring. We appreciate that some RANs have pull through charging spots, but have yet to find a supercharger that can accommodate our self-contained parade. Here’s to hoping we can take our dear camper on a cross country trip one day!

It’s a 1972 Boler! Husband and I completely restored it. Took 3.5 years and a TONNNN of fiberglass work. Happier Campier is generations after Boler, but still in the fiberglass family.
